Japan has three major religions to choose from for major ceremonies.

For weddings, Japan prefer Christian ceremonies because of the pretty white dress.

There is no "right". Just religious branches. And Taoism was never organised except in fiction. Shinto is Shinto.
Buddhism in Japan is different from Buddhism in modern China, but neither are the same as Buddhism in India. So neither gets to claim authenticity.

They COULD, but Shinto deities are specifically localised to Japan. It might seem confusing for those who were used to consider deities as Omnipresent, but Shinto gods are deliberately meant to restrict their activities around their domains. Sure, you can build a new shrine outside Japan, and WW2 Japanese soldiers did do such a thing. Yet that just means you create a new local deity.
The major Shinto gods are not suppose to travel abroad. They are "Japanese" gods and that is suppose to meant something.
