Rewatching the series, I realise that EVA-01's redesign for rebuild is shit. It's way too thin and noodly. It lacks the intimidating design of the series counterpart.
What. The Rebuild designs have thicker torsos.

Apparently you don't. A toros is the entire region from the chest to the abdomen. Series 01 has an overall wider torso and a more jacked body
But they look pretty much the same.

Which goes against what you're trying to argue considering that the TV designs are only thick in the pectorals and quickly descend into Gothicmade territory.
I think they made them thinner to look more organic. Also you can have more versatility during sequences of action and excitement.
