Cooking and teaching hasn't had a direct effect to the story, though. I get the point of character development but she gets entirely too much screen time doing shit that doesn't matter. She's been very passive about her own safety leaving it all to Tekkadan. And she does nothing to prepare for her meeting whoever it on Earth that the whole story revolves around (or at least we don't really see any of it).
There have been worse characters than Jewlena, but for now she's just typical anime fodder. While I'd prefer that she gets better, I'm not getting my hopes up considering the genre's long history of having characters for the sole purpose of having virgins to waifu over.
