Alright, /m/, I just recently got into the craze of Gundam through the Gunpla figures, but I feel like I should have some proper time to enjoy the actual series. What would be some good (or essential) series for a new fan to dive in to?
My only request is If I could get some basic series. Like, one's that are more war-like than space opera. Pic related(?)

Even MS IGLOO, the most war-driven mecha porn installment of the franchise, is ultimately driven by character drama. Hell, Igloo 2's final episode is about an incredibly butthurt Guntank pilot and her vendetta against her defector boyfriend.

0079, absolute must.
Part of it is that /m/ is really the dominant english-speaking mecha community on the web, followed by MAHQ and then 8/m/. Discussion topics usually assume you've seen all the classics. Users won't stop to explain the plot of an 80s show they think you should already have seen. 42 episodes is not a lot either.
Of course, the real reason is that 0079 is really, really good. The visible growth in piloting skill means that every battle is intense and suspenseful. It always seems like Amuro is barely scraping by. Until the last ten or so episodes, Char stands as a foreboding figure; Amuro is a fledgling compared to what heust eventually face. The songs are funky, the mech designs are pretty good. The animation has low points (likely budget issues), but the style isn't bad. If you're not a weeb, the dubs are good too.

If you want lots of visually appealing fighting, 08th MS team, F91, 0083, CCA, and Reconguista are good to watch. Its impossible to get Gundam without some space drama however.
OP again, thanks for all the feedback, and am curious to ask about the dubbing. Do most pre-existing series have them? And if so, do any of them skip over certain plot points/episodes? I'm not a purist for voice quality, I just wabt to understand in english why giant robots are fighting, heh.

In the original Gundam series there's an infamously bad episode called "Doan's Island" which is skipped in the dub. Most all series and OVAs have dubs, big exceptions being Double Zeta, Victory, Turn A, and X, and the television series that have aired in the last few years.

imo Gundam the Origin (the manga, not the ovas) is the best way to get new-comers to experience the original series. I mean try the original tv series by all means but Yasuhiko's manga is a lot easier to digest on the whole. You can read the first couple of volumes online I'm pretty sure.

Gundam 00 (Set in a different universe)
Gundam Seed followed by Seed Destiny (Set in another different universe)

I did the same thing. I watched 0079, then 08th MS Team, then back to Zeta and onward in production order.
I don't really regret it, but might be best to hold off and watch it later. It's kind of jarring going from the old 80's animation to the newer animation then back again.
That said 08th does have some amazing mecha battles and it's all land based. The actual love plot was really boring and I just didn't care about it. I wanted there to be more battles.
Does anyone here know if there's anyway I can find Origin scans? I can't buy the volumes from where I live without paying >$100 per volume thanks to taxes and shit.

I recently got back into gundam a few weeks ago focusing on the UC time line, just starting victory. If spectacle is what you want 8MST, Unicorn, and 0080 are probably what you'll enjoy most. If you end up getting more into the story 0079 the series I found better than the movies, but while watching zeta I realized the movies are cannon. I would recommend starting with 08 Ms team or 0079, then watch it in chronological order with ZZ being optional. Unicorn is very well produced. But prepare for a facepalming shit ending.
