But not every Gundam has a princess, and not all the princesses are out for peace. I'd say maybe half of the shows have an actual princess who's out for peace.
Relena is an actual 100% peace princess. She's the daughter of the king and the head of a school for peace. Marina is also the legit princess who's out for peaceful political negotiation. Shakti is the daughter of the queen and out for peace, but more from childish naivete than any sort of philosophy of peace. Cagalli is the actual princess of Obr, but while she is in favor of maintaining her country's neutrality she also wants to personally kick ass in combat. Lacus is all about the nonviolent peace but isn't actually royalty, just a politician's daughter who nonchalantly steps over the freshly killed corpses of her country's soldiers who were sent to capture her. She doesn't have power because she's a princess, but because she's a pop idol. Kycilia is the daughter of the monarch, though never actually called a princess, but she shot her brother in the head. Mineva went from being a puppet ruler for Haman to being a legit peace princess later on, and Mariemaia was a puppet ruler for Barton.
That's pretty much it, as I recall. The only person in G who was all "stop all this fighting!" was that one detective at the beginning. The closest thing in AGE would be Kio. Tiffa was perfectly okay with unlocking the Satellite Cannon for Garrod to wipe out a small army with.
Oh, and Kihel was also all about the peace but she was the legit queen who traded places with some bumpkin girl because lolz so I don't know if I'd even count her.

If you don't read the supplementary material or marathon it, it becomes super hard to follow what's going on in certain parts (especially the constantly shifting alliances) because Tomino has this habit of fucking up the cause and effect relationships for some events. It's actually easier to comprehend the show on a second viewing because you know what's going to happen, so you can reverse engineer why some of it happens.
Also, there's a lot of shit that doesn't really go anywhere that muddies things up, ranging from individual scenes to entire subplots.

Yeah, but a lot of that stuff isn't explained in the first half of the show, which is why it makes more sense if you rewatch it or read that stuff ahead of time: you spend less time asking "What is going on?", "Why is this happening?", "Who is _______ nation?". That's the big problem with G-Reco: the show just dumps the viewer into a very complex situation and proceeds on the assumption that everyone can reverse engineer the situation and context while trying to follow some really bad dialogue on the fly.
A thirty second narration explaining the political situation on Earth at the beginning of the second episode would've made it much easier for people to follow and given them enough context clues to work through everything on their own.

In the grand scheme of things she is useful as a political tool but not much else. They have other levers they can use to try to pacify the Martians, but having her out and about is problematic. They'll deal with her the same way other massive bureaucracies deal with problems: as they damn well please.
I will also note how I absolutely love that Barbatos gets its shit smashed in every once in a while. The show manages to make it seem noteworthy because of its rarity, but not omg super special snowflake invulnerable MS that Gundam can sometimes wind up as. There's a distinct lack of respect for the Gundam. It's not an invincible white devil of death, it's not even a one-off prototype to be mass produced, it's this advanced but ancient museum piece that may have higher performance that modern offerings but not that much, and all the cool shit it does is owed to Mika's skill and bugfuck craziness rather than press butan receive victory.
