Probably my favourite of the lot, I watched it in a few days this september after the BDs were fully done, and despite having read about all its flaws on /m/ and /a/, I loved it. I genuinely tried looking for the "nonsensical","incomprehensible" and "confusing" parts in it, but I couldn't find it. Visually beautiful, great world, good story even if it wasn't completely unique in the Gundam franchise.

Yeah. It was really nice.
I really enjoyed the way they cut a lot of the sequences to drive the momentum from scene to scene. The fact that not everything was told, and even that a few things weren't show was really unexpected given how hand-holdy a lot of things tend to be.

I also liked Arise Motoko's attitude/personality a whole damn lot. The character design...eh, but I can get past that because of the whole body swapping. Her and Batou's dynamic was excellent.

Art direction was really smart too.

I just finished it a few hours ago. It's not my favorite, but I really enjoyed how they told the story. It really packed a lot of content for just 24 episodes. Fights could've used infinitely less shaky cam.
The CG was really choppy at times. The characters had a tendency to move irregularly.

As for the fights, I thought they were good, but the animation really brought everything a notch down. However, when they did their slo-mo shots it looked phenomenal. I think if the overall pace of the fights was slower it'd be a lot better. I get the Gauna are supposed to be "teleports behind you" fast to ad to the creepiness, but I think they could've relied less on that and still showed off the incredible bursts of speed every once and a while. If everything starts as lazer pinball, when you start to ramp up the powerlevels, it becomes less impressive.

Anyone have that one webm of Benisuzume attempting to kill En? It's a perfect example of what I'm trin to say.

I really liked the "world" though. Very good stuff there.

dude I fucking LOVED the logis. They had the cutesy personalites but as far as mobile tanks go they where far more respectable. Even with their outfitted cockpits you would look less derpy riding around in one of these guys.

According to Wikipedia it seems like it was well received.

As for seeing more. Well Im of two minds of that. On the one hand I WOULD like to see the world explored more. Some of the stuff they did with prosthesis is fascinating and terrifying (the fetus cyborg)

but at the same time I don't thing GITS in general can really carry a huge amount of content. At least not with Section 9.

The original Manga was, what, ONE volume? Then a couple of movies (and people only really seemed to like the first one)

I wouldn't want them to pull a SAC because while I did very much like parts of it, I always felt it was a drag in a lot of places and the writing staff really wasn't able to control their Major boner. Too much always fell back to her and how awesome she was and while that's fine for a short series you really should expand the characters if you're gonna ask 52 episodes out of us. That Saito episode was awful. Poor Borma got fucking nothing and I don't even remember if they did anything with Ishikawa.

SAC was good when shit was happening but GITS really needs to have something to say. Because at it's best it's very good but at it's worst it can be so super boring.

I think I've talked about GitS with you before.
I think it's actually a pretty damn good episode, even though sniper bro does get shafted. He still was metal as fuck though.
I do agree about the side characters though.

I felt that the ARISE cases were akin to chunks of the complex episodes from S.A.C. and that worked really well for me. (Actually I just looked and there are 12 Laughing Man Episodes in s1) So pretty much the equivalent of 10 episodes+movie since all of them were linked via Fire-Starter.
I really loved that they never outright stated that Kurutsu developed it after she used it on Motoko when the Major quit the army. I know they told you at the end of the 2nd case iirc, but usually shit like that would be repeated over and over again, especially considering you just /know/ the Major /knows/ after she develops her pseudo antidote.

I didn't find S.A.C all that boring ever, but I've been a sucker for police procedurals ever since I was a kid, and police procedurals with futuretech are really my tempo.

I have repeated myself numerous times, yes.

Im not against the occasional breather episode to pace out the series and I like a slower pace fine, mind you. My issue was just how little anyone not named Motoko got to do.

The Pazu episode I thought was great. It gave us some quiet time away from the main plot and some insight into one of the other characters.

I just really wish we got more of that. Give Ishikawa and Borma more screen time. Give Saito a real episode. Batou got off pretty well and id be lying if I said I didn't love it whenever that big lug was on screen. I just feel like there was a lot of wasted potential wasted on major wank. And it hurt her a bit too If Im being honest.

Woo boy. No matter what I say, I'm going to get spammed over it. Oh well. The producers said they wanted to create a fun show that is best watched live and discussed rather than marathoned. Fun is subjective, but they certainly succeeded in the latter. It was a disposable mecha show, watch once, shit post on image boards, and then discard. Frankly it's more notable for the trolling than anything. It's this show were the trolls moved on from trying to force mecha girls off the board, to an actual mecha show. They were further emboldened by their success and moved onto driving an entire gundam show off of the board, and /m/ has been damaged ever since.
