What Armor pattern is your favorite?
Who has the best mechs?
Eldarfags need not apply.
>>13494778
>Dark Eldarfags need not apply.
fixed and I say this as a chaos daemons guy.
>>13494778
III desu
though I am a fan of IV's helmet
Is this because of that post I made in the Star Wars thread? I'm pretty sure those deletions were months ago.
Beakies're best.
Orks have the best mecha, hands down.
Why exclude Eldar when you could've turned out the Tau faggots? Lame.
Mark 3. Mainly because of that sweet-ass helmet.
>>13494834
Least favourite helmet desu
>>13494796
>Beakies're best.
No arguments here.
Personally prefer 3 and 6, in that order
I like the assault variant of the mkIV
I love the Mk 3 because I love the idea of this invincible phalanx of space marines in Mk 3 slowly plodding down the hallway as enemy bullets bounce off of him, systematically gunning down enemies with his bolter as he goes.
Terminator is even better though, it feels more realistically like power armor.
Goofy red super soaker guns all the way.
>>13496081
I wish there were more armour variations in kit form. With the Astartes spread out across the galaxy you'd think they'd have deviated more in terms of their customization.
does anyone know what are those stupid looking studs used for? other than rule of cool .
was there any real life armor desing that had studs and had a purpose for those?
I find the aquila patter nice , mkIV also , except for the pieces with stupid studs..
>>13496900
They're special space rivets to hold on extra armour plating and also used to affix new pieces to damaged suits.
>>13496900
I've never seen live examples of studded armor that weren't related to a fantasy work.
Won't deny that they look capable of pain if you put them on armor bits that you can use to shoulder-charge/kick a pile of heretics, though.
This is my favorite pattern. The "kicks your ass" pattern.
>>13496900
same as the spikes on a zaku
>>13496856
forgeworld has custom armor for almost every legion, although the traitors get the fancy mk4 stuff. I think I like Alpha Legion's the best though. Them stolen proto-beakies
>>13496929
in the FW books some world eaters and iron warriors have spiked bonding studs
>>13495279
I'm half tempted to dump this in the Ryusei booru for lolz, ddid you make that Gunlord?
>>13496959
I lol'd.
But it makes me wonder: why doesn't anyone in warhammer seem to make any use of atomic weapons and why aren't all space marines given jet packs?
This armor right here.

The non-shopped version of that picture appeared in a White Dwarf article on Space Marine paramedics. He's dropping the dead marine's geneseed into a containment unit for safekeeping.
>>13497751
>make any use of atomic weapons
Because planets are resources, and they can usually throw the Imperial Guard at enemies like the Tyranids, Orks, and Tau until they go down.
>why aren't all space marines given jet packs
They do have jump jets on their backpacks for general use, but the assault marines are the ones who specialize in using high-power jetpacks.
>>13497220
No, these have been around for a while, I just saved it.
III
>>13497751
Nukes are still around under the blanket term of "atomics", but they've bee obsoleted by better, cleaner ways to kill everything.
>>13494778
Heresy pattern no question. Imperium and Eldar mechs are what glued me into 40k 20 years ago. Used to stare at the battle photos of the old war walkers, titans and dreadnoughts for hours.
>>13496929
There are real life examples. Studs are used to hold multiple layers of armor together, especially when they can be sewn like gambeson.
Brigandine, which was a layer of cloth and metal plate, had studs. I think Ming-Dynasty era armor might have also had studs.
I'm fairly sure studs are used for the same reason with SM.
>>13500119
*especially when they can't be sewn together like gambeson can
>>13500119
Yes, brigandine armour was popular with the Ming. There were some examples that actually lacked plates, the studs & rivets being for appearances' sake only. Gotta have muh comfort while standing around for hours looking your martial best at the imperial court.
>>13494787
>Wraiths
>mechs
They're monstrous creatures;^)
Seriously though fuck that noise geedubs.
They really are closer to kaiju than mechs.
>>13494796
>Beakies're best
While I don't really disagree, Mk. IV Maximus is where it's at.
Crusade Pattern is dank, but only on muh GKs, and Chapter Champions.
>>13500119
>I'm fairly sure studs are used for the same reason with SM.
I'm probably getting it just a bit wrong, but I was under the impression the ceramite on the Corvus sets were molded around the studs, which are weaker points in the armor.
I do know specifically that they did this to cut material costs during the height of the Heresy
Best pattern isXV85.
>>13497751
>>13499821
There is also the "Rad" types of weapon that concentrate incredibly amounts of radiation on a target but those fall into the ´exotic´ side of the spectrum and it's much easier and cheaper to just throw Guardsmen at the problem until its gone.
I like Mk2 & 3 because they look bulky. Mk8 is also very sturdy looking too.
anyone else feel like the tau were wasted potential by making them an infantry based army instead of having them be full gundam with mecha suits launched from carrier ships?
>>13504486
this
Kroot should be moved to an alien merc allies codex. Those taurellian dog soldiers and human mercs can come too.
>>13503097
I mean nukes are so common they some how had enough to have a 500 year atomic war on kreig.
helmet = death flag.
>>13504728
>they some how had enough to have a 500 year atomic war on kreig.
Eh not exactly
Loyalists were pushed back by the Separtists until the loyalists found a nuke stockpile and just blew up the world. THEN they waged a 500 year long war to clean up.
>>13504961
Wait.
Wasn't it more like the loyalists were pushed to their last hive and then the Mechanicus deployed an arcane-type weapon that very much toyed with the planet's atmosphere which destroyed most of the traitors army as they were about to siege the hive. Then the trench war took place.
>>13504728
Nukes may make commons sense now but it's always heavily implied that the Imperium has way more tools in it's toolbox to just think on nuking everything.
>>13507960
>Wasn't it more like the loyalists were pushed to their last hive and then the Mechanicus deployed an arcane-type weapon that very much toyed with the planet's atmosphere which destroyed most of the traitors army as they were about to siege the hive. Then the trench war took place.
Nope, Jurten decided that he had enough
>inb4 heresy
Riptides are love Riptides are life
>>13509473
Tau is shit
>>13509476
go fuck yourself gue'la
>>13509458
Gusee that I mixed things up. Thanks.
>>13509473
What about these?Funny because there is a Xenoblade X Doll that has that kind of back weapon.
>>13509751
Man, I'm not really a 40k expert and certainly not a Games Workshop fan, but for a guy who likes a lot of guns on his mechs, that thing's a damn sexy ride.
Best warhammer robits.
>>13509751
>>13494778
It's shit
