For those new to gunpla/plamo or even just new to this thread; please read the guide. Please read it before asking questions as there is a chance it has already been answered there.
For those unfamiliar, "plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model". If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.
If you're new, you're gonna fuck up. Don't worry! If you're expereinced, don't make the new people worry!

Here's the campaign part I got, not the best one but I had no idea I'd be getting any!
I hear a lot of people talk about which acrylic airbrush paints to use.
What I don't hear is a lot of people talking which paints to NOT use. Ever. So help a noob airbrush user avert anything that would lend itself to fucking up what should come out as a beautiful paint job because of shitty paint characteristics. What should I stay away from?

Just got the new RX-78-2, it came with some minigun thing. This is the first kit I'm going to be putting together with proper materials (previously did 1 real grade and one 1/100 high grade without soing anything past snapping them together) and I really want to build this one now because I've been waiting a month for it. Should I save it for when my bottle of Mr Cement comes in a few weeks, or should I do it now and try using elmer's rubber cement to put things like the bazooka together?

Yes, the guide is nice and all, and I read it because duh, that's what you're supposed to do, but I'd rather ask the actual people that use the products and judge the shit out of how well a kit is assembled, how thick the paint is applied(thin your paints) and if it's cloudy and rough or amazingly smooth because of 16 thin coats and a micropolish.
Is the HGUC Phenex worth it?

I have not really decided yet, ANGRY being the only theme I got in mind so far. I figured I would start with the new Zaku with the massive axe then paint to match the Yellow/Red scheme.

Just finished top-coating for the first time. Used the Tamiya flat coat on most of the parts that aren't gold. Shit looks way better now, holy shit.
For the gold parts, should I leave it as it is? I'm not dumb enough to flat coat it. But should I go get myself some Gloss coat and go with it? Or do I need some kind of special shit for the coated parts?

Semi gloss would probably give the same look as if it were just oob. Use it if you like the look of it now bare. Check the topcoating link from the guide for a good comparison which uses spoons and different top coats.

There seems to be a disassembled airbrush, I believe it is a Badger 105. You might want to put it together before pouring any paint into the cup.

mmmm I don't think if that is a fair comparison, given how bare bones the Shiki is, as it only comes with the rifle and bazooka
the Akatsuki on the other hand comes with a whole lot more shit: 2 complete backpacks, shield, and crazy beam effect parts, however the hips joints are complete shit, so in stability the Hyaku Shiki wins hands down
there is also the issue of the gold coating, I found the Shiki to be uneven in some areas, almost becoming silver, but the Akatsuki was more uniform
so i was dusting off my shelves today and decided to display all my 1/72 and 1/144 planes together. i forgot how much fun i had building these little things, and they were so damn cheap.
I think I'm going to count this as my first real attempt at gunpla, seeing as it's the best one so far. I fucked the sticker up a bit and went overboard on the weathering, but oh well.

the Mave kit is great, very sharp casting and the assembly is a bit more like a gundam kit than a regular plane model. however it is molded in all-grey and a decal sheet from hell so building and paint this thing is not for the faint of heart.

and I'm ok with that. I really need to make my own custom one day, I got this Gaplant Hrairoo+Barbatos idea brewing in my head right now
Initially, the barbatos design did not appeal to me, however it grew on me after a while.
Using pink gundam marker for the markings worked out pretty well, the stickers look shit house. The black stickers in particular are annoying, but not anything that cant be solved by painting if they decide to peel off. To be honest, I should start buying actual acrylic paints in the future.

The worst part is the local cops won't really do anything about it. I mean, if they even bother to look for the guy, and that's a super big IF cause the cops are all corrupt and lazy as hell here, because of over crowding he'll just spend at most a few hours in the city jail before being released. There's like no incentive to not commit crime in my city, because so long as it's not a felony they can't really hold you in jail for longer then a few hours.
And now I'll get the "joys" of spending hours trying to convince my insurance company that my gunpla should be covered under renter's insurance.
which is the better value, the RG or PG Strike Freedom? RG has a big selection of third-party wing effects, but PG has none.
