Manga is average. The art is beautiful, CLAMP handled 90s shticks in a very, very good way way. Shitty crappy Chinese BDrips are on torrent trackers now. Dark Horse (unflipped!) digital copies are everywhere, they're nice.

They didn't even include the OVA but it should be there since the only BD release is the box I assume.
I have to finish watching it. I liked the show a lot better before the mecha arc, the action was cooler when it was just the girls fighting with swords and they were on a grand adventure. The mechs have potential but are ironically much less visceral in battles so far, they don't get into scraps nearly as often as the girls did and just spam special attacks.

I actually gave this series to my niece to watch and every couple of days she'd text me or call me to tell me how much she's enjoying it.
Then she watched the last episode and I got her call and she's in tears about the ending. All in all though she loved it. I suppose I ought to get her the 2nd season but Im a bit conflicted as Its not really all that good. Also Nova.

I still smile when I think about the subs that Anime Works put on it. They tried translating honorifics. It worked fine with Fuu using "Miss" and "Mister" everywhere, but you had Hikaru referring to Umi and Fuu as "Umi-ster" and "Fuu-ster," which is funny as hell. It makes me think she's doing an impression of the old Rob Schneider character Copy Man.

So I popped in my DVD of the OVA earlier. I'm not going to rip it, since there's a better looking R2- the old Manga Entertainment release has a worse picture and a lot of interlacing. I suspect it was mastered from something in worse condition.
However, the SRTs that're floating around for the R2 are pretty damn shit. Full of honorifics and all that- so there isn't actually a rip of the official subs. I could just manually transcribe the subs, but that shit is tedious as fuck and I'd like to avoid that.
Does anyone have any tips on how to rip the subs off the DVD? I've tried OCRing it with SubRip, but every single time I get a line of pure gibberish that I can't actually OCR.
