/o/ first timer here. What is mecha in /m/'s words?
>inb4 google
I am an amateur artist and wish i could draw things like this. I dont really watch anime like a regular 4chin memer, but if it means anything I always loved the way gundam wing looked.
most of the time? a bipedal tank, also magical shit like power rangers
Something in a shape that's at least vaguely humanoid with something at least vaguely resembling metal covering at least a part of it or two.
And also men in spandex and silly helmets, giant monsters, girls with any kind of weaponry whatsoever and any type of vehicle, especially tanks
Lurk a little. Every now and then /m/ has a favorite mecha thread. They are worth checking out.

>What is mecha in /m/'s words?
Something that contains mechanical things as a regular topic. Usually robots, but in a pinch sci-fi battleships work too.
>>13477780
>at least vaguely humanoid
Or animallike, like Zoids. (though you could argue the Kongs are hominid enough)

>What is mecha in /m/'s words?
To be precise, "mecha" is the Japanese word for "machinery." (Not "machine"; that's "kikai.")
However... the definition of "mecha" in English is somewhat elusive. Personally, I've settled on the definition of mecha as "limbed machines".
In terms of 4chan, though, /m/ is "sci-fi technology."

>At your age
Anything heavily mechanical or robotic, with an emphasis on high tech stuff. This includes classical mechs (your Gundams, battlemechs, AT-ATs, ED-209), powered armour of any stripe, star-, air-, land-, and regular ships, androids and gynoids and adorable spider bots that want to eat your civilization, and tanks and tank-like substances. The ones that actually exist are usually better served to be discussed elsewhere, like /k/ or /o/, unless they're awesome. /m/ loved Curiosity, for instance.

Those tend to be surprisingly good threads.

Incidentally, those are the exact kind of over-greebled, aimless designs that /3dcg/ hates.

>>13477746
The way I see it, mecha is anime in which a one of the major plot devices is machine technology used to tell the story. Usually giant robots and power suits, but not limited to them.
Well thanks to riderfags mecha on /m/ is every fucking thing that's mechanical. Your car, your washing machine, even your wristwatch is a fucking mecha.
What mecha actually is? Big robots in Japanese media.

We had the occasional washing machine thread well before toku was prevalent. It was a joke, but it was there.
We also had a thread about hinges.
