Yukarin's the perfect choice for Beato. I was worried who'd they pick before, as Beato would require a ton of range. She's not just a bloodthirsty sadistic murderer, she's also a playful troll/tease, a charismatic leader, and can even be regally refined (her family was known derisively as the "Red Aristocrats" before everything went to shit for them).
I would've preferred someone slimier for Axmann's role, but Ken Narita can play the intimidation up well.
As far as everyone else, they're pretty good choices. I don't really see anyone on there that doesn't fit the roles they were given.

It's a good question since the design is derived from a power loader intended for moon operation, and there are TSFs stationed in orbit for the purpose of dropping, but I believe it's been stated that they do not work in space.
If you think about it, the rocket engines will work but the jet engines will not, some of TSF maneuvering relies on the action of gravity (they're deliberately designed to be top heavy), and it's unlikely that they would waste money and effort on all the extra systems you'd need for operating them in space when 99.99% of the work they do is down on Earth.

Swinging the jumpjets around seems terribly inefficient for vector control. Wouldn't a single thruster/rocket engine with nozzles that you could close and open and installed facing opposite directions, installed in the shoulder blocks and hip armor blocks work better?
Of course you still need two main rocket engines for general movement but not only will foisting all the work on them make your machine's reaction time and power depend on them, it also overworks specific part of the machine. I understand that a sensible design (insofar as giant robots are concerned) are still close enough to the real world's "you can never have enough redundancies" so in terms of propulsion, there's probably a story to be told about a technician crew's blood, sweat, tears, and sleepless five months in converting a battalion of TSFs for space-worthiness.
In the frame itself, though, the entire machine is for all intents and purposes sealed, so, assuming a situation where a group of TSFs are rapid-converted for space use, apart from giving out the helmets and maybe modifying the respiration systems in the pilot suits and the machines itself, you wouldn't see anything TOO different in its base bipedal form.

Excepting the whole Irisdina thing, I can kinda sympathize with Beatrix's motivation. She's gotta hold a country that's rapidly coming apart at the seams together else aliens eat everybody. I don't really see why she's treated as so evil for shooting deserters. Many modern militaries have rules allowing for executing deserters. America was doing it all the way up to WWII. We don't use it though because it's bad for morale and we can take on cases one at a time in military courts.
