I just finished the novel, I think the description of war with beta is very great, several great battles. So I decide to play the game to get different experience.

What, of the main cast?They're more human casualties than they are BETA, really. Beatrix kills Pham, Sylvia and possibly Walter, Lyz is executed by Theo because of circumstances, Axmann apparently kills Gretel and mortally wounds Irisdina, and Theo shanks Beatrix with a TSF's knife. Only Theo, Katia and Anette survive out of the squad.

It's a little more complicated than that. It has to do with the "Moonlight Night" incident of 1978 (which BiS is building up too), where Katia's father (Lt General Alfred Strachwitz) and everyone related to him were rounded up by the stasi, never to be seen again. Both Irisdina and Beatrix blame each other for whatever happened that night. Beatrix was a stasi ensign under Axmann at that time (Abel forced her into it though), and Iris informed (probably under duress/torture) on her brother, so it's uncertain who's telling the whole truth.

In Manipulated Victory, she actually saves the 666 from the BETA (after trolling Iris), in Red Star & Hammer, she shows an obvious contempt for Soviet leadership and pisses off her Russian handler on purpose (showing she's not as hardcore communist as you'd be lead to believe), and in Cage of the Stasi she doesn't seem to take any particular pleasure like Axmann would in executing defectors. She's doing a job, she doesn't gloat or draw it out, she doesn't smile; she just asks for their final words and then has them shot, before sighing "It is done." In fact, she's actually veers from being cold and unemotional to angry about the whole situation.Of course, then you have other stories such as Requiem where she taunts Gretel, caressing her face and telling her that her parents were the only thing that saved her from her boyfriend's fate.

I'm hoping they'll be a Beatrix route (if there is one, it'll probably be a side route in Lise's story) but it probably isn't happening, even if she's considered to be elder god tier along with Iris over in Japan. I don't see how they'd feasibly write it in. She'll probably end up being the final boss that you'll have to kill brutally in all three of the routes.

That's cause the author intentionally left their history a void. It's something he's done with a few of the other characters so he can sell more side stories (basically LN DLCs). The 2channers complained a lot about it when volume VII wrapped up. There were enough hints however that a couple still managed to put 2 and 2 together and say that the major schism was probably over Iris's brother. Most went with the psycho lesbian theory though (probably because it was more amusing).

It still kinda sucks that major, earth shattering character revelations are stuck in side material. You don't get a grasp of who these people are so their motivations and actions end up lacking context. Lise's side story, for instances, is locked away in Requiem. So is Gretel's. Beatrix is a pretty horrible person just going off of SM, but the prequel actually makes her sympathetic. The main story shouldn't need side material to make sense; it should stand on its own, self contained.

Sylvia's and Gretel are taken, so unless Age wants to write some NTR, it ain't happening.
Theo wouldn't want to penetrate Beato with anything other than a combat knife, even if he does think she's extremely hot (sides, she already has BiS to be main girl in).
Pham and Annette are possibilities, but unlikely simply because they don't have the plot presence or fan adulation the other girls get (they weren't even in the popularity poll).

She's really hot. Like, canonically, in text, she's the hottest girl in SM. Theo hates her with the rage of a thousand burning stars and he's still attracted to her. Her design reflects this perfectly, and draws people who'd normally be repulsed by her actions to her.
It's not totally skin deep though. She has many positives along with the negatives. She's as good of a leader as Iris, and her subordinates absolutely adore her. She won't order her subordinates to do anything she's not willing to do herself, and she saves some of the most dangerous and dirtiest tasks for herself.
The prequel has boosted her popularity like crazy too. Before, I'd say she was fourth or fifth most popular SM girl, but the prequel showed that she's actually a top-tier girl. It's also shows her to be a tragic, broken person, which tends to draw the waifufags in like flies to honey.
This isn't to mention that she also has the best voice actress in the cast doing her lines.
All in all, she's a fun and charismatic villain. She's someone you know you should hate, but kinda want to root for nonetheless.

Nojou as Irisdina is good. Quite good even, but in the end just making the best of the casting limitations of taking avex money again.
Yukarin's crazy bitch voice is one of the absolute best voices in anime and is not just bigger than Beatrix herself but maybe Schwaken entirely. That's the one major casting choice Yoshimune got to do outside the avex circle and I think probably fully with that in mind.
TE suffered in that it had such a long gestation period that by the time the voiced works came out many of the secondary characters that weren't cast ahead of time had more relevant seiyuu to the current time period. Sakura Nogawa dropped off the face of the Earth besides Strike Witches after 2007 for one.

I fucking loved her lines and how she alternates between insulting, threatening, and hitting on you, all using Yukarin's sexy voice. I do think it's funny that the two villains are such huge VAs compared to the rest of the cast. Usually, you'd expect a VA like Yukarin to be the main girl, unless their was another big name VA.

It's not really that odd. When you're dealing with budget limitations your up front casting choices tend to be junior seiyuu that either your sponsor is in favour of or your casting director likes while the back end characters like villains with less lines and PR involvement have more freedom to use higher paid veterans. It's similar to Kiniro Mosaic or Robot Girls Z.
There's also a pretty strong argument that villains are more demanding voice roles anyways, since they need to be much more immediately charismatic to connect with the audience.
They can also go huge on the main protagonists because they aren't having them voiced in the games anyways. That's a trend you can see with most VN adaptions.

I'm really sort of surprised at the amount of love SM characters get in these threads. From what I can tell no English translation of the LNs exist, so any of you who don't know moon or chink can't actually read the story. Which means you're all getting this stuff from secondary sources. I'm legitimately curious as to how there is so much love for characters like Beatrix if you're only getting second-hand info on the story.
