Which one is the 180mm grenade launcher, which one is the laser, which one is the 25mm machine gun, and which one is the flamethrower?
Pretty sure the big one is the 180mm grenade launcher. As this pic shows more detail, the one with holes would be my bet for the machine gun, the middle for the flamethrower, and the laser on the outboard end.

Derp. Pic did not post.

What are the guns on the head and the box on the right shoulder?

I have always liked this design for the Destroid. If I were somehow in the Macross world and couldnt qualify for the VFs, I'd be happy piloting a Destroid Tomahawk.

Your funeral will be short and unremarkable

The same could be said of 99.9% of VF pilots too.
Only having a name offers you any chance of survival in Macross.

CIWS/anti-personnel machine guns and a searchlight/floodlamp I think

Big one is the 180mm, The one underneath includes a ribbed barrel that I'd wager is intended for cooling the laser. That leaves us with the little barrel and the ported cowl. 25mm is too small to expect any real need for recoil, flash or noise reduction on the mecha scale, so the ported cowl must be to protect the relatively fragile ignition and dispersal for the flamer.
So, Clockwise from the top of his left hand gunpod: Grenade launcher, 25mm autocannon, Laser, Flamer.

Thanks, and speking of the laser, given that the two Mauler PGB-11 particle beam guns are the Tomahawk's main weapons. why the need for the laser?
>>13462460
Destroids have a much higher casualty rate.
>>13462461
I meant the right shoulder from the pilot's point of view.

Six pack of missiles.

The Tomahawk (and its Destroid brethren, but especially the Tomahawk) is primarily what spawned Battletech, and this created the entire schema for Western mecha as walking gun batteries.

The laser can probably output sustained fire (a continuous beam), which is handy for cutting -- like we saw the Valkyrie's head lasers do in the show.

The one with holes is more likely the flamethrower, it looks like a windscreen.
Fictional portrayals of flamethrowers always go for weaponized zippo.
I mean sure it would make sense to be the mg, since the holes allow for increased exposure so as to help the barrel cool off, but I wanna be on flamethrower windscreen this time.

They sure packed on the guns on this one. Loading the internal magazines and missile pods must be a bitch.

I love when people realize lasers need big chunky lenses.
I love just how weaponized all the destroids are, it's fucking ridiculous.

>"Right, and machine guns."

It seems to have been standard UNS policy at the time. I think the Macross is something like 30% missile ports.
>>13470440
Well, the Defender and Phalanx are quite the opposite, to be fair. Defender: only AA MGs. Phalanx: only missiles.

Don't forget the Cheyenne. Only gatlings.
