Nah. It's not terrible. It's stupid, but it's fun, cute, and lewd.

It would have been a LOT better if it were more serious, though. Even Extra had serious romance. Altered Fable plays EVERYTHING for laughs and fanservice.
>>
>>13398800
I thought that was the point. It's supposed to be healing after the events of Alternative.

>>13398802
I don't think it worked. I wanted it to be heartwarming. Instead it was silly. The events of Alternative were joked about but never addressed. It was gallows humor rather than a therapy session. There was no serious romance. There were (bad) H-scenes, but no real romantic resolution.

The rare serious scene, e.g. Kasumi at Christmas, worked very well.

I'm a Sumikafag and her route was the worst by far. God damn cockblocking satellite!

Spending more time with my waifu was the main reason I read it. It could have done that better, though. I wanted a cute and happy romance. Instead I got slapstick. The only serious romance was a fucking dream.
>>
>>13398972
Before the Shimmering Time Ends (BtSTE) is pure fanservice. I was reading it for the H-scenes. The trilogy is too serious to have long, high-quality H-scenes in the middle, but BtSTE isn't.

Hannibal is battalion commander, Marei is his sidekick, Griebel is a tank battalion dude who has a spinoff short story, Joachim is the west German battalion commander.

Comparing my builds and ones that I've seen here, the lighter ones only look better if you paint in the detail. Which I would do if I were any good at painting. Maybe I'll buy a spare 1/144 kit and try painting that
>>
For a moment I actually wanted to back this, but then I noticed that it's gonna be sent by TOM. I could not stomach the embarassment of receiving their box.
>>
>>13400014
>So why don't they just orbitally bomb the BETAs?
It was tried on the Moon. Didn't work to well. Hitting things from orbit is inaccurate and expensive, and BETA dwell deep underground in extremely tough tunnels.

>They already have ways to counter Laser-class interception
No. Heavy metal clouds help, somewhat exposure damage, but they aren't a counter.

>and there's always remote controlled missiles.
BETA give targeting priority to more advanced computers. If you try to launch guided munitions under the cover of a saturation bombardment, the guided munitions will be picked off first.
>>

Gonna be pretty pissed when KS ends with somewhere around 850k or something. Can't really believe it reaching 900k.
>>
>>13400057
There should be a "Let's enjoy otaku life!" somewhere on that box, too.
>>
>>13400097
Because it's more about the weight and how the items fit in boxes. You ordered items that didn't fit the minimum sized box. thus the one that they fit or had stocked was used. Weight matters more than size.
>>
>>13400107
Once again, how does having a ridiculously shitty box selection not fall on the seller.

I'm not him either you shilling cockbite.
>>
>>13400099
It depends on if we get a bump at the end like most KS projects do. If we get a bump similar in proportion to the Clannad KS's last few days, then 900k is within reach, but it'll still be very very close.
>>
>>13400114
There are standard sizes. You stock about three or four different sizes and go what you have to. If you ordered products that don't fit the smaller one, you just have to go with a larger one even if it has marge amounts of empty space.
Again, size doesn't matter. Weight does.
>>
>>13400107
>>13400122
The items in the box weighed about 100 grams all up...
>>
>>13400135
And? If they didn't fit a smaller box, bigger box was used.

xbox controller for scale. The box they used for shipping could have been the size of a tissue box.
>>
>>13400159
No, that warrants a larger box because of the packaging materials.
>>
>>13400162
it really wouldn't. The box was still way too huge for what it did. Even with packing materials, they could have used a box half the size
>>
>>13400165
And they didn't because it required a larger one. There are standards they need to stick with. Items certain size needs certain packaging material as per standard. Stop being a faggot and be glad you even had the chance to buy those. If you dislike them because of this event, stop buying from there.
Again; weight matters, not the size. If you're an idiot who doesn't realize you can throw the post package away, that's your damn problem.

But what the fuck is this art?
>>
>>13400198
>What are the chances the templates will be sold online, from other Daki sellers?
I think there's a fair chance that people would trace it and sell copies. It wouldn't be the real thing, and probably won't look as good though. Also, you'd be supporting plagiarism.

>Plus I would lose the Figure.
The Takemikazuchi isn't an exclusive item; it's just in a signed box. It's a kit from Kotobukiya that's been out for a little over a year, so you might be able to find one online right now.
>>
>>13400198
You can buy the kit elsewhere, but the daki is unique. Even if you don't want to use it you can auction it off later and at worst get your money back.
>>
>>13400216
>>13400224
Will they offer to sell the other daki variants as a bonus, like other kickstarters do?
Of course it will cost extra for each one, but only getting one for the cost is a bit much. They aren't even that unique, the thumbnails on the website for them look like game CGs.
Rather not back $800 for all three either.

What pledge did you guys go? I sort of went with this one, because it was sold out previously.
>>
>>13400236
I pledged $400 for the reason I stated.
>Will they offer to sell the other daki variants as a bonus
Look at the addons pic.
>They aren't even that unique
Those are just placeholder designs you retard, we're getting new ones.
>>
>>13400236
>They aren't even that unique, the thumbnails on the website for them look like game CGs.
Those are just examples of Bou's art. We haven't seen any of the daki designs yet.

also there are more than three, now. I think they said they're adding Marimo, but I can't remember the other girls.
>>
>>13400245
>$200 per daki
What the fuck. It might be cheaper to get the $800 pledge, that's really fucking steep.

>>13400240
>placeholder designs
Yes, I sort of already knew. I was just downplaying their value, so I wouldn't be inclined to buy them. But now I'm conflicted, especially if they will be limited edition.
>>
>>13400256
the kickstarter rewards aren't necessarily priced to be good value for a consumer. it's kind of like girl guide cookies.
>>
>>13400262
The next time a girl guide tries to sell me cookies for $50 each, I will laugh in their face.
I already know how ridiculous the high pledges are. I did $300 on another KS and the content was mediocre.
But charging $200, so basically $800 if you want all 4 dakis is fucking ludicrous. It's a pillow case for fuck sake.
They're putting way too much emphasis, on the original artist doing new designs.
I can see some waifufags putting out $400 for one daki of their waifu, which is pretty steep in itself, yet understandable.
But wanting to buy them all for collectors sake, isn't looking like a sensible option.
The most rare and exotic daki in Japan wouldn't be that much. Daki's don't even have collectible value, like an exclusive figure.
If you have the pattern vector, you can mass produce them as much as you like.
Either way I hope they release the actual artwork soon, or lower the price. Notice how the daki tier isn't very popular.
Surely they will release the designs, so people will actually be tempted to purchase them additionally.
Paying $200 for a design you haven't even seen is fucking retarded.
Only someone obsessed with having all of a character's (waifu) merchandise would bother.
>>
>>13400276
remember, you're buying a successful kickstarter first and foremost.
>>
>>13400286
It's already successful. They should lower the addon prices when it hits the first goal. Not like it would take away from the main funding.

Don't know if this has been asked but will all the games and bonus material be uncensored?
>>
>>13400395
They can't explicitly say it on the KS, but yeah, that's what the answer in the FAQ is implying. The gore won't be censored, but they're going to need to release patches for the H scenes.
>>
>>13400289
They have to balance production costs too. Lowering the prices would probably fuck up their budget.

I'm a big Muv-Luv fan, but I just sort of read the trilogy and left. The business situation of the company that made it didn't interest me. I'm interested in the story, not the company that made it.

What if they have their approval? They've already straight up said few times around that they're involved with cleaning up the scripts. They're not selling those scripts either. As Degica is paying for lxrecs or whatever script, who is to say they won't do the same with them? All this would just end up being Alternative Projects promoting themselves in hopes of getting paid for fan translations.
>>
>>13400638
âge and ixtl are owned by a parent company called ACID. ixtl is company that manages the IPs and the business side. âge handles all the production and creation of the products.

How do they heal from damage? Creating new flesh out of pure energy would be EXTREMELY expensive. They'd lose water over time, too. Wouldn't they need to drink?

Also, many of them have mouths. What are those for? I know that some are made from humans and maybe those mouths are just a holdover, but the Grappler isn't made from a human and it has a mouth.

copy-paste syndrome, caused by lazy Photoshop.

Jokes aside, some of them resemble pawprints, but the impact from 120mm rounds and such on a shell would typically result in wounds spread upwards towards the top of the shell. Since the healing is solid in form but spotty in appearance, you would reasonably get that pawprint appearance.

Though I did say it was copy-paste syndrome, the Destroyer sprites have a fairly dispersed pattern of such wounds. Only a few on the sprite resemble pawprints.

Too bad we never see new, all-green Destroyers mixed in amongst them, though.
>>
>>13401146

Do you seriously think that your food is converted into pure energy which is used to synthesize new matter?

No. New flesh comes from chemicals harvested from your food. Making new flesh from pure energy would be STUPIDLY expensive, not to mention impossible with biological hardware. I'm talking BILLIONS of calories to synthesize one gram of flesh.

I'm no expert in alien physiology but when the power provider in question is a reactor capable of producing rare extrasolar materials, provides power to upwards 200 000 individual creatures in a Phase 4 Hive, concepts like "too much energy required" is not really a point worth pondering over.

That said, while the majority of BETA use teeth to render materials down to size for transport either inside or outside their body, it's not out of possibility for them to convert some into a material storage of sorts for repairs or even for the reactor to give them some materials for repairs during the charging phase.

Or even for BETA too damaged to regenerate back to original form (say, maybe, a Grappler missing one claw and all the legs on one side) to be bashed apart by other BETA and carried back as materials.
>>
>>13401188
>Do you seriously think that your food is converted into pure energy
Are you fucking retarded or something? A calorie is the energy unit needed to raise the temperature of one kilogram of water by one degree Celsius. A FUCKING ENERGY UNIT. And nevermind that, since food is processed by the body into the final form of ATP, which POWERS the interactions in your CELL when it REPLICATES, THROUGH THE USE OF ATP, which transfers ENERGY to the cell. THAT'S WHAT FUCKING MITOCHONDRIA ARE FOR YOU IDIOT.
>>
>>13401204
>concepts like "too much energy required" is not really a point worth pondering over
Of course it is. You do not grasp the scales we're dealing with. The BETA are powerful, but if they were so powerful they could build things out of pure energy the entire Earth would be scooped up in a few milliseconds.

>>

>A FUCKING ENERGY UNIT.
Yes. And if you've ever read a nutrition label, you know that there's more to food than calories. Your body gets energy from food, but it also converts a large percentage of it into materials to be used. Proteins are converted to amino acids which are used to make proteins. This is why there are ESSENTIAL amino acids: your body cannot produce them from simpler materials and must get them directly from food.

2,000 kcal is enough to produce a few nanograms of matter, which is a few red blood cells. In order to recover from a papercut by turning energy into matter, you'd have to use MILLIONS of days worth of food and have a body capable of handling energies that would put a nuclear reactor to shame.

Don't think they ever got birthdays. November 11 is also the Invasion of Niigata but I don't think that had that big a role to play in the base alert level for that day. I've already forgotten most of the minor details, so parhaps Takeru had some talking moments with them on that day or something. Otherwise I really can't recall.

The last released chronicles (04, I believe) has War Ensemble, which is about an exoskeleton-outfitted infantry unit doing some man-to-freak fighting in a suburban town in Japan. Main character is a girl starts out with her friends and her pulled to do basic soldier duties and her two friends get the short end of the stick at the end of some BETA teeth, the main character later gets picked up by the unit and dons a pretty fitting suit with a high-powered rifle as a subsidiary gift.

Granted, I'm just going off spoilers I picked up around and everywhere, but seeing as it's got an exoskeleton with impromptu battleaxes in it, it can't be half bad by simple virtue of being new material (and the only one of its kind as of now).

Isn't there one romance in SM that doesn't end with one (or both) partners dead and the survivor a traumatic mess.

So far we have:

Beatrix and Jurgen
Iris and Theo
Kurt and Tank Girl
Inghilde and some unnamed dude
Gretel and Karel (or Karl, not sure about pronunciation)
Sylwia and Walter

It's like romance is the ultimate deathflag in ML's world.
>>
>>13401459
Many of them would have died anyway.

And in the trilogy it's the opposite. Sumika and Takeru died dozens of times, but their romance let Sumika be happy for the first time in years and let Takeru survive.
>>
>>13401431
There are better ways to showcase it, like having a x-ray part on the blanket. It's stupid to hold your hands out like that.

Yeah, it has some pretty good themes and parallels running through out it. Many of the characters are foils for other characters. Take Sylwia, who obsessively hunted down and killed her best friend after said friend was forced to rat her out (sounds similiar to the whole Iris vs Beato thing, doesn't it). Or you could look at Lise and foil her against Iris, who had to betray her brother too.

What can it do that others can't? VN engines aren't exactly complicated.

It makes WAY more sense for them to standardize and then differentiate themselves on content. If all the companies put the work that went into their private engines into kirikiri2 (or custom forks of it), they'd have way more powerful engines for a way lower price. Suits don't like FOSS, but it's useful for both companies and consumers. Especially for VNs, where the content is vastly more important than the engine.

FOSS is fantastic for just this sort of thing. Duplicated effort is a tremendous waste. VNs are not differentiated by their engines. Companies have nothing to lose and a lot to gain by switching to FOSS platforms or making their own platforms FOSS.
