The anime is a fucking mess.
Shit keeps happening at random pace and the OST tracks pops at random times, even when you don't really need any music or a track is out of place.

If you don't mind streaming a little, a good chunk of the original series is on Tudou. Prepare for Chinese hardsubs though.
I'm pretty bummed no DVD rips popped up, though that's understandable considering that this is a pretty obscure show (even for a mostly loose adaptation of a very well-known book) and said DVDs are pretty pricey.
