Enjoyed the former franchise, fell in love with the latter game, thinking of rounding it all out with VC and all I know about VC in terms of gameplay is that it uses an action meter system.

That's just for movement really and how much varies by what class the person is.
VC1 has a couple tutorial missions at the start and infodumps on the 1st entry to places between missions so it will tell you most of what you need to know to get through the game by the start of mission 3.

As far as I'm concerned, if you think it's /m/, it's /m/. The key to avoiding any stupid bickering about it is just to confidently create a thread about it rather than asking first. That's what I do, anyway, and it worked for me.
