power armor?

How does /m feel about power armor? IE not a gundam.

Followed by the next question: if you own a suit of power armor, which suit would you pick.

Pic related is my choice.
>>
Nanosuit 2 is garbage.

The original one is superior both aesthetically and for gameplay.

I've always had a thing for retro futuristic power armor my self. Especially in Fallout. IE Pic Related. Dunno what my favorite set would be.

I also like most of the MJONIR and varient Designs from Halo.

Aesthetically, meh, they are just different generations of the same thing. Two is definitely the more intimidating of the two. (This said, both are equally effective.)

>>12440269
I never was fond of the Fallout series power armor, it seemed more clunky than elegant. (Though, that does fit with the style of the games.)

Tough call...
I've always loved the War Machine armor since the old days when Rhodey was Iron Man. But when it comes to actual abilities there are things like the Goodskin from X-O Manowar, the Extremis armor, that "I have every power" armor from Return Of Bruce Wayne, and so on.
Plus I've always had a soft spot for the PA-09 SAMAS from Rifts.
Not to mention Blowsperior being able to turn into a kickass motorcycle.

Probably Blowsperior or the Extremis Armor.

I've always had a soft spot for the ArmSuits from GITSSAC. They're big, fast, heavily armed and armored, but you can still tell that there's a person inside because of the exposed arms.
>>
>>12440919
That suit is an awkward cousin of both power armor and full on mecha. Those arms... so awkward.

plus Appleseed has some other power armor designs
this one is call Ogre if I remember right
>>
>>12441045
Ogre looks good and practical.

What I don't like about the Landmate is that the wearer/pilot's arms are sticking out from the body of the suit. That's also why I think the Landmate is more of a cross between power armor you wear and a mecha you pilot. Some of the advantages of both sides and some of the disads from both sides. Same with the ArmSuits from GITSSAC.

I'm going to have to find the Appleseed manga now.

Nanosuit 1 = Proportions of an Olympic God. The very definition of athletic beauty for thousands of years.

Nanosuit 2 = a DO YOU EVEN LIFT dudebro gorilla manlet. Symbolizes everything detestable about modern /fit/ culture.

They perfectly summarize how what started as a beautiful game was corrupted by publishers and being forced to appeal to the CoD crowd.
>>
>>12441201
One was fun.
Two was fun.
Three was half baked, I was disappointed.

Of the two, one looks agile and not as strong as the second gen. Second gen trades agility for strength.
>>
>>12441240
The mistake 2 makes is combining the Speed and Strength modes into one.

Having them separate is incredibly more useful.
>>
>>12441156
>What I don't like about the Landmate is that the wearer/pilot's arms are sticking out from the body of the suit.
I think the positives outweigh the negatives nearly all the time. Lets you manipulate things with your own hands (albeit covered in power armor), open doors, operate various human-sized devices etc that the landmates larger arms are too big to work with.

If your arms were safely enclosed in the landmate the alternative would be to unsuit and expose your arms completely.
>>
>>12441388

Too small. Needs to be at least 6-7 feet taller.
>>
>>12441045
>>12441156
The Orc suit, not Ogre.

Too bad about that one guy, the boobytrap, and there being only that one particular doctor on-site.

The Korean suit was actually based on a variant of the original nanosuit concept art. It was supposed to be modular. I kind of wish they kept the chest rig

Power Armor can never make you run or dodge faster, since for it to move your joints faster than your muscles would destroy them.

True, but some power armors, like the ones in Red Eyes, have those dashing/skimming things like you see in VOTOMs, allowing them to scoot around faster.

>>12442352

>>

>>
>>12442949
Prophet's suit was an anomaly apparently.
>>
>>12442949
That's what pissed me off about the third game. Alcatraz was likable. Prophet not so much. And completely rewriting the brain of the current wearer with the brain of the previous owner is comparable to murder but that's wading into idealogical muck.
>>12442965
This. Crysis Legion mentions multiple times that Prophet was still there in the guise of the suits OS.
(The book is a good fun read.)

Dunno.
The devs change the lore when they feel like it.

The space ninjas, at one point was some kind of rotting zombie inside the warframes, and at another point, people that turned into some form of energy that is contained by the warframe to channel the abilities.

The power armor in A Farewell To Weapons looked super cool. Seemed to have a lot of built in utilities and capability outside of increased strength and defense too.
