Why is there very little of it made and how do we fix it? You would think with the internet everyone would know of Gundam by now and would want to see more like it. Pacific Rim is awesome and I am looking forward to the sequel and Chappie but there is so little else out there. Will we see a renaissance of the mecha genre in the next decade or so? Why is it taking so long?
Your opinions =/= Nationwide beliefs.
because it's fashionable to hate Michael Bay and what he did with Transformers.

What do you mean by that? Is there more western mecha material than what the OP already mentions? Am I looking in the wrong places?

OP is being a faggot.
Storytime, I guess.

we all know there will be no VFs or Zentradi mecha in that. It will be fighter planes that don't transform in space.

You mean that old cartoon from the sixties with naked children in it? Sorry, OP, normal people don't want to fuck little kids.

Oh man, I'm really out of the loop when it comes to movies. This is the first time I heard about Chappie. Looks like a great movie from the trailers.

and like that she is blind.
Not a huge fan of the western mech a genre, but there are some good nostalgia gems out there. Battletech, Amored Core, Aliens, Terminator, ect.
I think the only way Hollywood has a chance with the mech a box office is have high-budget FX and mindless action. If it keeps theater audiences awake and makes a profit, that's good enough.

Chappie and the Police robots look good, the mind operated mech looks great.
Let's just hope it goes the way of District 9 and not Elysium.
