Sugo (Probably should have a name with a bit more flourish, like Sugo Racing).

Asurada GST

Never seen on screen other than this single image I'm pretty sure. There is a bit of lineart somewhere, but I don't have it scanned. This is the car Hiyoshi mentions in the first episode as not being able to qualify when the GSX is registered to Hayato. IIRC it was used the previous year to attempt to qualify and failed.

that's awesome.
It looks cool more like LeMans Prototype style.
The front wheel arches sort of remind me of the Porsche 956 maybe?

Super Asurada SA-01, SA-01/B, /C
Round5 2015 - Round 5 2016

The Super Asurada, designed by Hayato's father. The SA-01/B was a slightly tweaked version used during the final round of the 2015 championship while the -01/C was used during the open rounds of the 2016 series to little effect.

Super Asurada AKF-11
Round 6 2016 - R12 2019

AKF = Asurada Kazami Fortlan (through I always preferred the Fortran romanization)

Received no official upgrades, but this is where the show falls a little apart for me. Certainly F1 cars are never static within a season, and certainly not season to season (though that was that one season a decade or so ago where MacLaren never brought out the new car because the old one was good enough). For sure it got an upgrade in the form of the Union Savior (Sabre) engine courtesy of Randoll and possibly more. The stats listed are for the original spec.

Sorry, forgot to mention that in 2018 and 2019, the AKF-11 is no longer used by Sugo, but by the sister team, Sugo Winners.

The issue of between season upgrade in 2021 is actually touched on in the dialogue of the first episode of SIN. The footage and dialogue (Claire's negotiations with Daisuke of GIO Motors) make it clear the Nu Asurada is down on power compared to its rivals, and its Hayato's skill and spiral boost that are helping it to victory in 2021. Part of the reason why Sugo was so eager for the partnership with GIO.
>>
>>12073999

Also, my goof, its been a while since i've had to use this information. The Asurada GST was an early prototype of the GSX. The unit pictured and described is actually named Wind Number 12.

any info is appreciated.
please continue.
>>
So in conclusion for Sugo, its names are as follows.

Sugo 2015-2017
Sugo Grand Prix (with Claytor) 2018-2019
Sugo Winners (with Hayato) 20218-2019
Winners and GP combine into Sugo Grand Prix 2020-2021
Sugo GIO Grand Prix 2022.

Also, if it helps to make Sugo's position in the series clear, they are a small time manufacturer better known just for their engines (as evidenced by Kaga coming to them for Indy Car engines in Double One).

Now onto Aoi.

Now onto Aoi. Aoi's parent company, Aoi Motors, sponsored a team in the very first Cyber Formula World Championship where Kyoko's father raced and team performed horribly. After sitting out the 3rd season, they came back for season 4-6 but again retired. The first TV season is a big push back for them, hence all the pressure to win. Also, IIRC they are one of the companies that created Cyber Wheels in the first place, so this figures into their....management style as well (WIN OR ELSE). Anyway, they acquire ZIP Racing, an American team which is failing during the original TV Series (The 10th Cyber Formula World Championship). They run this team as AOI Zip Formula until merging with Aoi Formula in 2020 as Aoi ZIP Formula. Sorry about the poor image quality for the logos, its late and I dont feel like scanning all these in again. So deal with old early 2000 fan art i found.

now, onto the cars.

Also worth mentioning is ZIP Racing's Exsprose 119 (EKUSUPOROZE). No stats listed. At this point its worth noting that from the first world stage forward (Grand Canyon), every car seen on screen has a name, team, and driver. A driver lineup photo (like the ones in F1) even exist. The same can be said for every subsequent season of the show. If you've never done it, look for a redhead lady. She first shows up in Double One and by SIN is partnered with Jackie Gudelhian at Stormzender in the pink HP-022 Spiegel. She usually is there for only a few frames in the earlier seasons, but shes always there in the background being awesome. For some reason, shes even the Saga opening at the end when you see all the drivers.

Did we get subs for the series + OVAs?
>>
>>12074148

TV Series was officially licensed by Bandai years ago. The OVA series were never licensed, but Double One and Zero got fansubbed with...passable fansubs, though apparently the last few of ZERO were done without a translator as the original one quit the project. I have quibbles with the translation, but its better than nothing for certain. SAGA and SIN have passable crabstick subs that allow you to follow along for the most part, though sadly for us, those are the more convoluted/complicated story lines that could use a better translation for certain. At that point an increasing amount of Cyber Formula story takes place in the radio dramas, something I'd love to see translated. I do have them though raw if anyone is interested in translating the more serious ones.

My information on this next team is a bit fuzzy and it has little to no bearing on the show. SGM, Silent German Mind is a team that thrives on technical innovation. They invited the first booster system in 2008 and would win the 4th and 5th world championships with driver John Cleve (the episode after Grand Canyon in the TV series). Franz Heinel originally drives for them before leaving to form his own team, the Sturozech Project backed by Sturobrahms motors. This would later lead to another team Stormzender, featuring Jackie Gudelhian. Sturozech and Stormzender would join under the latters banner while SGM would continue under its name with the Silent Screamer machines.

This brings us to Union Sabre (Seriously, yet again, I dislike strongly this official romanization. Sabre seems more obvious and fitting. Anyway. The Knight Savior-006 design base will go on to be used by two seperate unrelated teams, Star Stampede and PPP Belladonna oddly enough. It is also used again during the 2018 season when Randoll is not driving for the team. Odd that they'd pull that out rather than using another Issuxark. Oh well, anime. They did not eat any team at any point that I am aware of.

>At that point an increasing amount of Cyber Formula story takes place in the radio dramas, something I'd love to see translated. I do have them though raw if anyone is interested in translating the more serious ones.
The problem with that is that you get into a loop there.
People aren't very interested because not a lot is translated properly and if you attempted to translate it you'd have to look up what terminology was used by previous translators.

Pic kinda related.

They do and they don't. the only times those cars ever reach those speeds are on either teh straight aways, or the extremely wide/angled turns. And they only reach those speeds when they use their boosters. And even in the first episode they make sure you don't have cavities. so you can clench your teeth during high G force maneuvers.
>>
>>12074411
>Does the series deal with this aspect?
AI. The main character in the series basically gets the latest and most advanced one at the start (though it does not prevent him from doing human mistakes at times).

The AI serves both as a GPS (including telling you recommended speeds, breaking points, etc) and as a way to keep track of the state of the care + your rivals more easily. You can still ignore it if you wanna roll the dice by going against it if your gut tells you may be able to pull of something outside its predictions but that can backfire on you and it actually does quite early in the MC's career where he gets a penalty and decides to push the car beyond what is safe despite team and AI telling him it's a bad and potentially dangerous idea and doesn't finish the race because the car broke.

It's not the Alzard, but a "legal downgrade" of it, the Ex-Zard Z/A-11, driven by Shinjo and Seiichirou Chiba. Note that for the game lore, the car is so new that Shinjo and Chiba suffer from theeting problems, at the point that Kyoko is reinstated as team manager of Aoi Zip, and she brought back Kaga and the Ogre
>>
>>12074177
The big difference is that Asurada and Hayato need to have a mutual agreement to make something work (lifting turn don't counts because Asurada went for Hayato's safety first), while the Ogre just do what it thinks is better, expecting Kaga to withstand whatever it is (EG: the last spurt in SIN's last ep)

So SUGO really are the "underdog" team. I always thought it was kinda funny that they are still considered a small team through Double One even after Hayato wins two championships in a row.
So merging with GIO was the first time SUGO could be considered as trying to be like one of the bigger teams with more resources?

Im sure Sugo being the underdog drove Aoi up a wall. Again, kind of explains a lot of their more nutty decisions chasing after titles. Of course, the really funny thing is, none of the teams that won a title before the first TV series, have any sort of success since then, including winning races (except for AGS, but their success was limited to just the TV series).

>>12074993
Poor Lope, as soon as the TV series starts he's already kind of the washed-up has been champion.

I wonder if maybe it was a reference to Nelson Piquet? But probably not. Like how Piquet was retiring right around when Senna was starting to peak. But there's no real similarities besides both being Brazilian and multi-champions. We never got to see Lope in his prime winning races.

Bringing Hiyoshi back was one of my favorite parts. It's almost in a meta-way making fun of the mecha cliche of "teenager falls into cockpit". Everyone always wonders "what if a trained soldier got in the Gundam and not Amuro at first";so it was cool seeing Hiyoshi who was supposed to drive Asurada originally work his way back. Even if it turns out he's not as good as Hayato.

Dragonar is probably the only other example. Where the army pilot that was originally supposed to be officially assigned to the test project prototype ends up helping and training the main characters after they fall into the cockpit and steal his seat.

Although its not for everyone, I do find the music to the F-1 Grand Prix SNES games as some of the best driving music around. The band T-Square, a Jazz Fusion band, did the music for that game as well as for Fuji TV's F1 coverage. One of the band members also composed the background music for the Gran Turismo series and the band itself provided its main theme, Moon Over Castle (also known as Knight's Song).

I wonder where or if raws for the first 2 series can even be found. There are at least Spanish subbed versions of Arrow Emblem on youtube, but the source video is aged badly.

F anime is subbed (all of it), sourced from DVDs of an Italian release:

The problem is though, I'm no expert, but the English subs did not seem to match what was being said on screen at all. Maybe it's changed since then, I dunno. The first 2 eps I caught were pretty funny with the main character outrunning people in a souped up tractor trailer.

Not really, but it has (literally) Schumacher as a retired F1 pilot trying his luck at Cyber Formula.

Then again, I don't remember if Cyber Formula was done before Senna's accident.
>>
>>12079404
What killed Formula 1 was ironically the fact that it is much safer nowadays.

Don't misunderstand me, it's obviously a good thing and the last thing I'd wish is that we lose people like Senna to accidents but the cars are so standardized and have so many electronics attached to them that only the top teams can squeeze out any significant differences out of them.

Teams with low budgets cannot come up with out-of-box ideas to make up for deficiencies they may otherwise have.

That's also why you've seen the championship go from having 20-25 teams to only barely 10.

One of the best things about the SNES F1 games is that it captured that past era of F1. In some of those games that's the only chance you get to do all the old tracks like the original Hockenheimring, before Tilke changed it. Original Imola with Tamburello corner. The Classics Mode is the best part about the F12013 game (and Codemasters removed it from the newer versions), and sims always try to add at least one classic F1 car, but it's not the same as playing the older games.

Just when you think modern F1 is too safe the whole Jules Bianchi incident happened. But that wasn't really a problem with the regulations or the new cars, it was more a fluke accident. No one could really predict that a car could hit a recovery crane like that. Cranes are the easiest most efficient way to remove vehicles off the track.
The FIA tried investigating the crash to find a cause, but it ended up sort of blaming Bianchi instead for going too fast in a caution zone. Apparently he tried to hit the brakes a certain way to cut the engine but the cut-off failed and he couldn't reduce his speed in time.

So now they have the virtual safety car which is used in sportscar racing and is a slightly different version of the "Code 60". So it enforces a speed limit instead of leaving it up to the drivers. Before you only had to prove that you lifted off in a yellow zone you could be only a 0.1 of a second slower and not get a penalty. And now I think they are going to put some kind of protective skirt around the cranes and recovery vehicles to try and prevent it from happening again. But I don't know how you are going to replace the cranes. How else are you supposed to quickly get cars off the track and out of the way?

It was a fluke situation that Sutil just so happened to crash there a lap before and had the crane out and then Bianchi in the rain slipped in that exact same corner and ended up in the exact same spot/area as Sutil. Sutil saw the impact up close since he was out of his car. He was noticeably kind of shaken up/traumatized by it. It's sort of his fault for crashing there in the first place. He probably felt some of the blame and personally responsible. Don't crash and then there wouldn't be any problems. I was sort of rooting for Sutil but it's no surprise he's going to end up out of Formula 1.

My only problem with modern F1 is that it seems to put too much emphasis on conservative driving and doesn't really reward aggressive driving anymore. Yes, it's a good skill to be a smooth driver and save your tires and burn less fuel while still going fast, but I think the new regulations take it too far with the conservation. You should be able to go flat-out at the maximum and drive aggressive all the time.
The 2013 regulations had no refueling and you still had 160kg of fuel for the race compared to only 100kg in 2014 and no fuel flow limit. So you could run a rich or lean fuel mix and still have more than enough for the race. But some would argue that there shouldn't even be a "lean" setting in the first place. And these new rules with all this conservation of fuel doesn't lower the costs it actually made the sport more expensive. It was cheaper to run the 8 naturally aspirated V8 engines for a total season than it is to run these new 5 hybrid power units.
It's still fast racing, it's nowhere near "slow". But you expect F1 to get better and faster every year, and lately it feels like the performance has plateaued. Yes it's a miracle that they can manage to run a full grand prix at all, on only 100kg of fuel, and of course you want rules that emphasize reliability; but it shouldn't have to be taken this far to sacrifice the speed of the racing.
I guess the new aero package makes things more difficult for the drivers and forces them to adapt since the cars have less overall downforce. There's only a small window during the race where the car is at the optimum and you can go flat out and do your best lap times. From the start of the race the car will burn fuel and get lighter but it's offset by the tyre degradation, and then eventually you have to turn down the fuel mixture to make sure you have enough to finish the race. Whereas in the 90s/early mid 2000s you could always be at the optimum.

Another opinion here, titled : "We want inefficiency, they don't."

I never looked much into who decided on the rules of Formula 1, but whoever write the rules is -from my POV- apparently writing them to encourage technology that can benefit to everyday cars, environmental problems, economy...etc

Rather than what many of us would like : A spectacular and bloody race of steel and fire !
It sound logical. When they pour so much money into racing the constructors themselves want to show that their technology is best suited for the problems of todays.

No point for them to show they can put a jet engine on a car and that it is hard to control. Jet-engine are inefficient here and computerized drive control is the future.

I guess there's no point resisting the future. Ricciardo and Bottas like the new rules. F1 is always changing the regulations to keep evolving. The new 2015 nose designs look a whole lot better. At least they got rid of those dick-noses from last year. Those never should have been allowed in the first place. I got used to the platypus/step-noses at least. There's talks about tweaking the rules for more power like relaxing the fuel flow limit and bumping up the power units to 1000 total horsepower.

For Audio:

So I just found out that there are AC mods for the new V6 turbo F1 cars. I guess that's why there's no "official" F1 racing sim. There's a mod for everything so you don't need one. And there's one for the Audi R8 LMS GT3, no need to wait for the dream pack 2015 update.
No one tells me anything. You guys are secretly playing all the cool games while you laugh at me for playing Codemasters. I hope they didn't simulate the shittyness of the F14T.

At least Monza kept the old banking as a historical landmark monument that you can still visit. They completely destroyed the old Hockenheim forests and removed the old track when Tilke redesigned it. So you can't even use the old Hockenheim track for historic racing events.

>>12126036
Part of the problem is that the manufacturers have too much of a say now. In the 80s and 90s you had independent teams and it was basically the equivalent of a bunch of car modding freaks trying to squeeze out as much speed as possible, even if the designs were not apt for mass production (that's what le mans and DTM was traditionally for).

Even with Red Bull nowadays the car/motor manufacturer's are the ones basically deciding what to include in the championship.

>>12120495
>>12117583
Don't get me wrong, safety is important and I do not wish F1 to return to the days where you'd have about one to two dead drivers a year (or any a year) and some changes like actually enforcing speed limits even if it's just a yellow flag are actually something I think makes the sport better but I have seen several penalties being thrown out for "reckless driving" for what would have regular overtake attempts in other eras.

It doesn't help that a lot of circuits are not designed for allowing overtakes with the current cars as they were designed ages ago (and sometimes with bike races in mind instead of having overly long cars with plane engines).

Yeah, but only the new circuit. The Nordschleife section was used in F1 until Lauda's crash IIRC (which was actually the reason they built the new circuit). The oldest is probably Monza (Interlagos would count but the whole thing was revamped in the late 70's. Older track was awesome by the looks of it)

Even then, dunno if I'd manage to get a good run there. Watching the "Nurburgring bloopers" videos is lotsa fun but kinda terrifying too.

Yeah Red Bull are basically the official Renault manufacturers' team now and get all the attention and effort of RenaultSport put towards the RBR team. The Lotus-Renault team that goes way back to being Benetton is switching to Mercedes units next year. It's kinda sad that partnership ended. That's how desperate they are for the best equipment, and they feel like they don't stand a chance without a Mercedes engine.

Marussia and Caterham are still trying to make a comeback for 2015 but there's no point anymore. They are so behind on development that they would be a mobile chicane. Too slow and become a safety hazard. They got permission to use their 2014 car to save them the hassle of building a new one. But it was already an obsolete piece of shit when it was new. It would be worse or just as bad as the situation Kaga faced with the Aoi team in SIN. But this time there's Negumo Char with a totally advanced super-secret prototype to save the day.

There's that new American HAAS team coming in 2016. But the rumor is that they are going to be Ferrari's junior bitch team like Toro Rosso & Red Bull. Toro Rosso can never win the championship and be a top team because the 'main' team Red Bull won't allow it. You gotta donate to the Alexander Rossi crowdfunding kickstarter campaign to help get an American driver in F1.

Everyone saw how Lewis left McLaren for Mercedes and is now on the best team. So everyone wants to be like Lewis. That decision was shocking at that time. It's like he saw ahead of time the downfall of McLaren and Mercedes getting better.
The rumors back when Mercedes took over for Ross Brawn is that they were always planning ahead for the future regulation changes and weren't really focused on the short-term V8-era car. But that wasn't completely true because they became a strong team and won races as soon as Hamilton joined. So now Vettel used the new era regulations as his chance to ditch Red Bull for Ferrari and Alonso is taking a risk going to the new unknown Honda-McLaren hoping they become a good team right away like when Lewis switched.

F1 is always dramatically changing the rules especially to break up a dominant team. They targeted Schumi with the no-tire-changes rule in '05. You had the tire-war back then between Bridgestone and Michelin, and the Ferrari-Bridgestone partnership became too strong. In '09/10 it was about trying to even the playing field between teams and balance the competition by introducing new aero rules to help increase overtaking, no-refueling, the reliability rules of 8 engines per season. Then Red Bull dominated those set of rules so these new 2014 regulations targeted Vettel. Vettel liked a good rear diffuser with lots of rear downforce and the new aero package limits that. Also the exhaust now is pointed upwards so you can't use exhaust gas to effect the airflow to generate downforce on the back of the car. A truly good pilot can adapt, instead he spent the whole season complaining about the new rules. And his teammate destroyed him. I never paid attention to Ricciardo before on Toro Rosso. and now he's a superstar. Is Kyvat really going to be that good too?

That's what the FIA does. They take everything you like, ban it, and then do the opposite. Forcing you to adapt.

Before that in the 90s it was Williams being targeted with the ban on all the electronic technology aids, like active suspension, ABS, TCS. Williams around that time was the best team to be on. But everything that made them good got banned. Those rule changes is what sort of screwed over Senna, because he assumed he was walking into the best car on the grid, but instead had to do a lot of developmental work with the engineers. Williams rebounded from the ban and won in '96, '97.
That's why Alonso is taking a risk by going to McLaren with the new Honda engine. If he gets his third world championship and ties Senna while driving in a Honda-McLaren then it would be more fitting. But the safer bet is to stay with Ferrari because they've already had a year to figure out everything that is wrong with the overall package and start making changes. At Honda-McLaren now Alonso has to start from scratch again testing, R&D, and diagnosing all the technical problems and giving feedback to the engineers.
That's part of the instincts of being a Formula 1 driver. To be on the right team at the right time, so you are in the best environment/situation for success. To be able to predict which team is going to be good in the future. There's talented drivers that never get a proper chance to showcase their skills because of the logistics of trying to get on a good team.
Alonso won the same amount of championships at Ferrari as Jean Alesi : 0. In Alonso's case it's the team that failed the driver.

Soon. Like maybe sometime around after 2017.

>Explaining the thinking behind the design, Ferrari said in a statement on their website: "Would it be possible to come up with an F1 car which not only is technologically advanced, but also captivating to the eye and aggressive-looking? And could this be made without having to overturn the current technical rules?

>"At Ferrari, we believe so. Let us introduce you to the ‘concept design’ that was conceived by our design studio (Centro Stile Ferrari) together with the Scuderia’s aero department. Minimal changes give the car a look that is way different from what have been familiar with so far. Our challenge was to create something that was – to put it short – better looking."
>Speaking last month, new Ferrari team boss Maurizio Arrivabene called on F1 to dramatically improve both the look and sound of its product.

"By 2017, I would like to see cars that win over the fans, with cars that they can get closer to and that are aesthetically more appealing, maybe even producing a noise that gets your hair standing on end, like that produced by a heavy metal band," he said.

I got 40GB of F1 season reviews from the 70s-2013 and some races from 2014. I could go on forever. There's a torrent for the season reviews that you can find on all the usual torrent sites.
Sportscar GT racing keep getting bigger. The 24HR of Dubai this year had full broadcast coverage, and now it's a part of an FIA endorsed endurance series. They are going to do 24HR races in Paul Ricard and Catalyuna too. Last year you only got about 2-hours of highlights coverage. Now they are a full blown FIA endurance event.
The LiquiMoly 12HR of Bathurst was awesome this year and had more entrants with full broadcast coverage. A lot of the Blancpain guys ran in it this time. A Japanese driver for the Nismo GT Academy won, and he took the lead in the last 15 minutes of the race. It's crazy how the sport has grown so much so quickly.

That's why I like the RadioLeMans.com coverage, because they know everything about every driver and the smallest teams. They'll be like "that guy raced Ginnetta's in ADAC GT Masters or that guy used to race Gillet Vertigos, or he used to be a F3 driver and switched to GT racing"; it makes you want to watch the whole endurance race so you don't miss any of their information. The commentary makes it so much better.

Hopefully they do more SuperGT broadcasts this year. I like watching the translated closed captioned Fuji TV broadcasts too. But RadioLeMans have this "Japanese expert" that they bring on for Super GT that has all the inside info, and he made references to Pacific Rim and Transformers one time on the air. So he must be a /m/an. You gotta namedrop something mainstream so people get the reference.

I can't wait to see the new Nissan GTR LMP1 car in action. All that R&D from SuperGT went into it.

>In Alonso's case it's the team that failed the driver.
Alonso is a bit overhyped to be honest.

No offense, he's a great driver, but right now the championship is sadly exclusively decided by the best car.
If all drivers had the same (not gonna happen) it'd be probably a race between Alonso, Lewis, Button, Raikkonen, Rosberg (he did manage to keep up with Lewis for a good chunk of the championship) and maybe even Vettel (as much as I laugh at >>12154904)

Vettel gets a lot of flag (deservedly so) but he also managed to win Red Bull the first championships (even if it was at the expense of his team mate) and their first Victory in a damn Toro Rosso, I think his shitty performance last year is more of a sign of him having no idea how to drive in a V6 and basically next to no experience on race championships that aren't F1 more than anything else (Lewis, Alonso, Rosberg, Raikkonen etc all have experience racing in other categories)

Alonso's reputation kind of gets enhanced, he's seen as having to drive & work twice as hard to make up for not being in the best car. That he can always get the maximum out of an under-powered car and drive it beyond it's designed limitations. So if he's on the best team then he should automatically win. But when he was on the best team in '07 with Lewis it turned out to be a disaster with the whole spying scandal thing. And then later at Singapore with Renault and Piquet Jr. was the whole "crash-gate" scandal. Flavio Briatore got a lifetime ban for that, and he's the one that helped bring Alonso into the sport. So he's made some bad decisions but he still should have won with Ferrari. Ferrari have all the resources to be successful, all the facilities, they get prize money just for showing up and being Ferrari. In 2010 even if it was poor pit strategy, he couldn't overtake Petrov and lost by one point. You can tell how badly Alonso wants that third championship. He feels like he should have won 3 championships already, if he doesn't get the third he might feel like his whole career was a failure even though that's kinda harsh.

This year Lewis showed that he is the best driver and also in the best car. He was the best at managing his fuel and tires. Which was unexpected because compared to Nico, Lewis was perceived to be the aggressive hot-blooded driver, and Nico is more like the smoother conservative cold-blooded driver. So I don't think anyone expected Lewis to adapt his driving style to the new rules so well.

I think the main thing that the fans want for 2015 is just to see the other teams be competitive. It'll never be exactly even but you don't want to see one team dominate too easily. Even with Red Bull and Vettel's streak at the end of '13, you still felt like the other teams stood a chance of winning the race. In '14 even if Lewis starts in the back of field he can cruise to a podium passing the whole field because the W06 Hybrid is too good.

Alonso is the kind of driver that practically demands that the team hire a lesser #2 so that he can get the team to rally behind him. It's just how he's wired mentally; The same could be said about Vettel. Same with Schumacher even. To me, the biggest reason why he had such a rough time at McLaren back in '07 was that he signed to drive for a team that has pretty conservative, business meetings and sponsor commitments first-attitude that clashed with his own way of going racing (Same reason why Lewis Hamilton left later) AND was basically centered around Hamilton (He had been a McLaren-Supported drive since, shit, 10 Years old?) even though he was a rookie. After that, there was the "Crashgate" scandal that he had no knowledge of (It was between Flavio Briatore, Nelson Piquet Jr. & Pat Symmonds) and struggled when ran for Ferrari. At the same time, Alonso also ended up doing a lot to drive home the fact that he could very well be the best driver of the current generation by coming close to winning the WDC twice in absolute dogs of cars (2010 & 2012).

As for Lewis, last year's championship was exactly what he needed to keep his career alive, because he's more of the type that needs a stable personal life to help him focus on the job at hand IMHO (And having an on-again, off-again girlfriend, falling out of favor with his father and then making up with between 2009-2013 isn't exactly "Settled").

gAs for 2015, it's a bit too early to guess how the season could go. Sure, Ferrari have set great times in testing, but Mercedes have consistently ran fast on last year's most-used "Prime" Tire compound, which could showcase just how fast their cars could be during racing conditions. I'm more worried about the rumors of Alonso having been electrocuted while testing in Spain, leading to his accident a few days ago as well as his hospital stay though.

Also, who's the manliest Cyber Formula Driver, and why is it Pic Related?

Some... Basically, McLaren are doing everything they can to deny anything's wrong with Fernando aside from giving him "Time to rest" and they won't release the hard data of the crash that was recovered from the wrecked chassis's "Black Box". So, while it's outlandish to think it might have happened... It could've really happened, because the current "He got a concussion" explanation doesn't match the light impact damage of the car or the video the FIA secured of the accident. Another rumor is that he has health problems, maybe something similar to the late, great rally ace Richard Burns... Which, if true, would be unbelievably sad.
