Crowds' worst problem is that it has a whole metric shit-ton of wasted potential. The artstyle and designs of the heroes' suits are fantastic and there are a lot of interesting concepts, but the characters are boring and unexplored and the execution leaves a -lot- to be desired.
What disappointed me about Crowds was that they teased me with being an adaptation of Ray Bradbury's "The Crowd" until something like episode 7, when it instead became clear that it was Faust+Zuckerberg-in-drag: the show.
S2 could be the next Valvrave.

There were a lot of problematic renames, and there were a lot of problematic removals. I speak as a formerly dedicated "troper." Getting rid of stuff like natter/troper says was really the final straw, because now the only sense of community is on the forums, which are pretty toxic.
Removing the R-18 pages was a bad decision in my view, because it's essentially claiming that a whole segment of media doesn't deserve attention. Supposedly there really was no reason for Google to cease ads based on having those R-18 pages, but I don't know that's true.
But trying to say that you can't have any tropes in anything that isn't English, thus justifying removing Itano Circus, Kuudere, trying to remove Tsundere, etc. was pretty fucking disgusting.

I don't hate crowds, but it was one of those anime that i watched around the time that it occurred to me just how often modern anime leaves me with an incredibly hollow feeling after I've finished it.
Like no matter how many great character designs, fantastic songs, cool concepts etc. I always come out feeling no richer for the experience than I did the moment I first discovered teasers for the series.
I don't know if it's because I set my expectations too high with the hype surrounding them, Or if it's because modern series are in such a competition to make it into production, that they have to spend all of their 'oomph' right out the door in attempt to garner interest. Maybe it's something else entirely.
Then again, maybe I'm just picking all the wrong new shows.

CROWDS wasn't bad. It literally had nothing to do with Gatchaman but it wasn't bad at all. It had a neat art style, some fun concepts and a good OST. I'll admit that it puttered out towards the end though. And that everyone who wasn't Hajime didn't really get the proper amount of screentime.
