Everyone's always talking about their most beloved weapons, but how about defensive systems?
Energy fields, physical shields, deflection systems all welcome, if it keeps an attack from melting your face it's fair game.

Did someone just say DEFENSE?
The best defenses are the ones that can be used for offense as well.
Explosive Armor
>>11068288
I always thought this thing was fucking cool for the Shinkiro. All the KMFs tended to just get more and more weapon systems, but when this fucker came on the scene, it was like a big fuck you to everyone. But that's just in the way of energy shields.
Motherfucking Alex's Chobham armor is one of the coolest sets of armor of all time for me. Just that plain military gray and bulky look. A lot of the Full Armor Gundam MSVs that have a similar look like that are awesome too, but they can't compete with the Alex.
It shocks me this tech didn't really go anywhere in the Wing universe, planet defensors were the shit.
>>11068288
>if it keeps an attack from melting your face it's fair game.
Then Strike's shield is out.
>>11068319
My nigga. They just looks so cool, even the bulky mooks like the Virgo looked awesome
>>11068318
I liked that it required an onboard autist to mash a keyboard in order to work. I have no idea what the fuck calculations a human could possibly be doing better than a computer but hey, it was a neat concept.
The holonic armour on the Zega units was sort of similar, but that was more of an always on thing, the co-pilot just dealt with balancing the energy used on shielding or weapons.
>>11068329
Who needs a shield when you can make one out of thin air.
>>11068309
Goddamn its defense was bullshit.
Spoilers I guess if you haven't read the manga.
>Shield with thrusters and cameras
Such simple additions and it becomes so much more effective than any other UC shield.Until Banana's magic shield funnels of course.
>PROTEKUTO SHEEEIDU!!!
>>11068363
My nigga

Water Shield is probably the best Shield Weapon in classic Mega Man, was a while since i last marathoned the series, but i know i liked it back when i played, im pretty sure i disliked the Dust/Junk ones though.
>>11068384
Junk is the worst shield, but best stage track.
>>11068363
>>11068371
I honestly like late UC beam shield best.
Pinpoint Barrier
Trackballs aside, its great for PUNCHING
How about some good 'ol fashioned flares.

Mah nigga. How powerful are the barriers on the Valkyries would you say? Could they shrug off almost an projectile?
>>11068674
forgot my pic
>>11068359
muh nigga
>needing a shield
>being hit at all
How the fuck did those little metal spinner shields in early 00 work? And the spinning rope shield from that Chinaman KMF in Geass.
>>11068711
A computer moves them into position at the right time to deflect rounds. It's like a physical pinpoint barrier that's fixed to a small coverage area
>>11068711
>How the fuck did those little metal spinner shields in early 00 work?
When the computer detects an incoming projectile, it rotates the rod to the right angle to intercept the shot. It can cover the same area as a solid shield with much less weight, which is important for relatively limited flying MS like the Flag.
The Nu's funnel barrier was pretty rad.
But the Unicorn had some pretty impressive defense too. Shield funnels and an I-Field? That's up there with the GP03 as far as defenses go.
Mazinkaiser is still where it's at. Can't stop Kabuto Kouji.
>>11068727
>Can't stop Kabuto Kouji.
What if I'm magma?
>>11068359
How did it help?
>>11068780
Mobility aid, could use the cameras to actually see what's in front of you without having to pop your main camera into the firing line, and you could basically do a rocket shield bash with it.
>2x beam shields
>mega beam shield with shield funnels
>2x I-Fields
>motherfucking Wings of Light
>gold-plated anti-beam parts
this thing had LAYERS of defenses.
>>11068828
I have yet to see this in action other than in G Gen. Does that shield actually fire a V-shaped laser?
>>11068828
>That time it whipped the wings of light around it like a fucking cloak and somehow negated the explosions of an assload of missiles aimed at it
I liked the GN Fields from Gundam 00.
>>11068862
>Being so decadent that you not only have a solid gold MS, but you fuck with the GN drives so they output solid gold GN particles for no reason other than to display your wealth
>>11068876
DON'T CALL MY NAME, ALEJANDRO
>>11068841
Once or twice.
I like phase shift and mirage colloid in Seed universe.
Also those fucking nuke jammers.
>>11068310
Rolling Shield, imo. Went to fight Sigma with all Sub Tanks full thanks to it.
Almost forgot, the Proto Shield was pretty rad too.
>>11069285
I BELIEVE YOU HAVE SOMETHING OF MINE
>>11069277
But isn't it the weapon Sigma's final form weak to?
>>11069314
That too. I was referring to the fact that it could be used to farm energy and ammo pellets.
>>11068703
Looking pretty Eva there, UC.
open get
>>11069438
evading ? shielding
>>11069318
That's from X.
>absolutely no armor or bulk whatsoever because MUH SPEED
>only that small beam knife for offense
>in battle, starts on the upper hand against Garrod
>all jumping around not being caught and shit
>at the first moment Garrod manages a hit, with the fucking vulcans, the suit gets utterly shredded
It was a funny fight.
Floating moving shields like Lockon had in 00's season 2
Protecto shaaaade
Battle aura
>>11069469
Technically, it was two hits. First Garrod blocks one of his beam knife attacks with the Buster Rifle, it explodes and throws the suit into a building, then Garrod spams the vulcans.
>>11069482
Forgot the details, eh close enough.
>>11068329
>I liked that it required an onboard autist to mash a keyboard in order to work.
Yeah, that was a very neat. I don't think there's many mecha that have keyboard controls. Impractical as fuck, but it looked cool.
Not very /m/ related(one could argue with Chachamaru and the Chao saga it vaguely counts) but pic related was cool.
Alternately probably Minovsky stuff like that time in 0079 when the white base went between two mountains so the particles bounced off and made it shielded.
I've always liked the style of AEGIS-type systems. shield of bullets
I love this thing.
>ctrl f "artemis necklace"
>no results
I am disappoint
i like primal/assault armor.
the concept of a sheild made of radiation was pretty cool.
Gaia's defenses give me a boner. First there's that amazing barrier...
>>11070730
And even if you manage to avoid that, good luck even scratching the paint with a direct attack.
Seeing it needing to do nothing but stand still to defeat the other gods was so satisfying.
I-Field or bust.
Human shields
