So I've gathered in the last few minutes that IBO isn't very well liked on /m/, and it got me thinking, what if we had a thread to show love/praise shows that nobody else seems to like?
Like with IBO for me, it feels like they tread a fine line between kid friendly and too-edgy-for-american-families. All the character moments and decisions they make feel very human, and maybe that's why I don't think it's (human) debris.
Discuss your favorite under appreciated /m/ series!
Fafner Exodus is pretty well liked on /m/ but I don't think it get's enough praise for being the best series of all time.

>I've gathered in the last few minutes that IBO isn't very well liked on /m/
What did you expect for an ongoing Gundam series on /m/?
>>13550190
Stop trying to make fafner happen.
It isn't going to happen.
What are some mecha series where the robots have weight and actually feel like giants instead of men in suits?
Giant Robo.
Tetsujin (2004)
Big O
>>13550100
Isn't Big O's design directly inspired by Giant Robo?
>>13550156
If I recall someone who worked on Giant Robo worked on Big O.
Can someone explain why people think IBO's magic space armor that makes Beam weapons useless is great and awesome, while SEED's magic space armor that makes non Beam weapons useless is retarded?
>>13549517
When did they say that? I always heard that it was more "There are no beam weapons, and nano-laminate armor provides protection from solid projectiles, so melee combat has a heavier emphasis."
This is now a Yugioh thread.
>>13549517
Most MS run on batteries, with PS being a constant drain. It makes more sense on the nuclear powered suits, but then a certain problem crops up during Destiny. PS should have become obsolete during this time due to how commonplace beam weaponry had become, but it's still being thrown onto all the major mobile suits because it starting up looked cool.
With IBO's setup, the nano-laminate armor is more like a passive ability in a world where, beam weaponry does not exist. It's still relevant...

I hope I'm not violating a /m/ rule by requesting something, and I apologize in advance if I am. I saw an anime back in 1981 (best guess). Been searching for it since then. It was a movie, not a series. Aliens invade Earth. Earth is defended by a team of heroes who pilot air/spacecraft that can combine into a giant robot. The aircraft were different colors (of course), but they didn't always combine the same way. The red one (blond male pilot) was usually the torso, but the climax of the movie had the blue one (dark-haired male) forming the torso. Any help is greatly...

I'd say Getter Robo but if it was a movie I'm not sure what it could be.
Also you're not breaking any rules by asking what a show could be, only assholes would have a rule like that.
>>13549220
It might not have been a movie, maybe just several episodes strung together. Like I said, It was a long time ago. I just checked the Getter Robo intro on YouTube. That's close, but it's not the one. I'll check through the other suggested videos there. Thanks, anon.

Do you happen to remember the number of combining craft? There are a lot of combining robots like that, so a number could help us narrow it down.
Hey /m/, Where can I find good subs of the Zeta movies?
Found one of the first movie. Was pretty unwatchable to me with the way they blend the new scenes with old ones from the anime. Would have been better if they updated all the original scenes too.
Sorry OP I can't remember where I found it. Took my awhile to find a link.

Is true that the only subs are the TV nihon subs?
Char looks like he's yawning in the ZZ OP
>>13548762
That's actually just how he laughs without the mask on
He came to ZZ to laugh at us
>>13548762
ZZ was so much of a bore he couldn't even be bothered to show up
He couldn't stand to see a bunch of junkyard rats fucking up his Hyaku Shiki.
Why was this so damn boring?
>>13548499
I only watched one episode but couldn't care enough to continue.
>>13548499
The answer's written on it
>>13548499
Watch the movie version, I found it was less boring, albeit less fleshed out than the OVAs. Also, bluray quality. It's worth a watch just for that.
Exactly what does Tomino do to stand out as a director? What makes him distinct like Anno, Satoshi Kon, Takahata, Ikuhara, Oshii, Yuasa, etc?
memes
His storyboards are great
>>13548334
I cry everytime hwne I think he will never get the recognition other mentioned directors get since they make show for kids who bully other while Tomino is the only person who makes for bullied kid demography.
Fuck them.

>video game anime
This and the AA one I really don't have any hope for
I'm willing to bet that Sentai Filmworks will license this as part of a package deal. Even if the game will never come over.
I keep giving anime a chance to impress me, and it keeps failing to reciprocate with anything approachable. I figured if a flick is getting a release, even a tiny one, in the West, someone somewhere must think it’s got some appeal for non-Japanese audiences, but 009 Re: Cyborg is a whole lotta WTF folded into a derivative, misogynist, and just plain incoherent mess. Are there different narrative rules for anime, like the plots don’t actually have to make any sense? Someone tell me now so I can give up trying to understand the genre.
The superfriends gang here is kinda...

Like how there’s an ethereal ghostly blond girl wandering through the movie for reasons unknown. Or how the cyborg’s leader is like what would happen if you threw Professor Xavier and Davros and a Child of the Damned into a genetic blender. Or how someone can shout, halfway through the film, “Doctor! Send me there via teleportation!” and you just have to throw up your hands and cry, “What?! They’ve got teleportation all of a sudden?!”
Did I mention it’s in 3D? That’s so you can fully appreciate the many shots up a lady cyborg’s ass, cuz her skirt is...

Why is this the only AU Gundam that isn't treated like a puching-bag by the fandom? G gets crapf or being silly super robot stuff. Wing gets crap for too many things to list, Turn-A gets crap for being too slow/boring and ugly mecha designs. Seed and Seed Destiny get tore apart every week here for too many reasons to list. 00 gets crap for UNDERSTANDING, being Zeta/Wing 2.0, and Aliens. AGE gets crap for being kiddie and UNDERSTANDING again. IBO gets crap because.....I don't know, being more popular then G-Reco, I suppose.
But Gundam X? Nobody ever says bad...

What? I see people shit on X all the time.
>designs are boring
>villains are shit
>music is shit
>>13547028
Because it's not popular.
>>13547028
Because its not particularly offensive in anyway?
Realitively overlooked and all around okay to good depending on a persons tastes most of the time I've only seen a few people really have an issue with it, basically its just well liked and not widely watched That's why.
Plus uc fags tend to like it.

ERIKAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Of the English translated SRW, which would you say is the best one?
And why?
Let's get a proper discussion going for once.
What was your least favorite unit in every SRW you've played?
When you think about it Grados from Layzner is one of the few Baddies that manage to accomplish it's goal.
You would win Too, if you had this man on your side

/m/, can a Star Destroyer destroy stars?
>>13545560
No you idiot it destroyes stuff AMONG the stars
No.
A couple of them CAN reduce a planet's surface to a crater-filled wasteland, though.
>>13545560
If the Emperor got drunk one night and decided to act out "How many Star Destroyers do you need to destroy a star?", how many Star Destroyers would be firing their weapons into a star?
