Are there any gay stories that are actually good? It's annoying that every book ever has to be straight, or else it's just "doing it for attention". You're fucking living for attention, you piece of shit. Sorry I digress, I'm looking for good gay literature.

Johnno by David Malouf

Twilight is pretty gay

Yeah I knew I forgot that comma when I wrote it, but I literally stopped for a second and asked myself whether I cared and I made a conscious decision to ignore it.

Start with the Greeks
>>
>>8288345
It's a useless phrase in written language
>>
>>8288350
I was sort of being ironic, because I just railed against the person reading the thread a little bit, so I thought if I said 'sorry, I digress" then it would seem like adding a formality to it would be ironic. It was sort of my own subtle sense of humor that I guess is only funny to me, while at the same time not being laugh out loud funny like 'haha lol it's a joke'.
>>

You're such a pseud.

I'm not a pseudo intellectual if I don't take myself seriously.

that guy should shave his legs and maybe wear some fine-denier nude stockings/tights/pantyhose. he'd look much better. his legs are too pale for that outfit and boots.
>>
>>8288432
He's a professional male model who models as female named Ivan Fahy and he's drop dead gorgeous. I like how he doesn't shave his legs, I think it's more charming because he still manages to be adorable, and I would clean his ass clean out with my tongue.
>>
>>8288328
Faggots by Larry Kramer is funny
>>
>>8288442
oh i didn't say he didn't look good. and he does have good legs (and they look good in this video https://vimeo.com/100463415 and i would totally fuck him in those shoes).

i'm just not keen on the pale hairy legs look. traps/tgirls/cds/whatever always look better with smooth legs or hosiery.
>>
>>8288328
oh my God I wish my life was shittier so I could devote it to killing faggots and not care when I got caught

This post worries me and I think you're a serious threat to mankind.

I see you've read Brideshead Revisited and Proust. You ought digress with the dykes instead, and, read Mrs Dalloway and The Price of Salt.
>>
>>8288328
Isherwood, pick a title you like, some are gayer than others. Obviously the Berlin books are the most famous (and really, really good) but might not be gay enough for you. Alternatively there is 'Sodom: Or the quintessence of debauchery' which you should read after Rochester's poetry because it is not as good.
>>
>>8289040
even Isherwood regrets his Berlin stories as a shallow approach to sex and gay culture.

"Good" is relative.

This is certainly engaging. Also, Arrian or Plutarch's life of Alexander.
>>
>>8289040
I should say it's still worth reading for the pleasure of seeing lines such as:
(king) BOLLOXIMIAN:

Let heaven descend, and set the world on fire
We to some darker cavern will retire.
There on thy buggered arse I will expire.
Truly the 17th was the best century.
Catullus has some good love poems he wrote for men and there's a tiny gay couple cameo in the Aeneid. Juvenal's 'the troubles of a gigolo' you might enjoy too, but obviously that is bawdy comedy.
>>
>>8289049
I gave a warning, he can read a meeting by the river or something. Obviously his finest work is the horror in the tower but that can be a little hard to find.

Not a story in the traditional sense, more an illustrated poem, but it's got the entire history of gayness and is pretty poignant at the end
>>

I really like Dennis Cooper.

Yeah:
Leviticus 18: 21-22
Leviticus 20: 13
Romans 1:27

I tried the marble swarm and it was about this really annoying psychopath who kept gushing really pretentiously about how attractive he is and his own writing style, who likes harming cute young boys and inflicting serious pain on them and then forgetting about them forever. It was really a horrible, ghastly read on all fronts. The characters were annoying as fuck, the subject matter was just gross, the writing style where the narrator is constantly referring to his own writing style made me want to fucking chuck the book against the wall.

The Greeks particularly the Symposium

You should read Wilde's De Profundis. Not really a story as such, but still.

Bourgeois bohemians, both gay and otherwise, adore him. Yet, at the end of his life he renounced the hedonism for which he was so famed.

Edmund White up until The Married Man.
>>

Any serious reading of Wilde shows that he wasn't really the hedonist he wanted to be, that's why Dorian Gray ends so badly. Better is Salome which captures the vapidity of yearning and the uselessness of faith. He was at his best focusing on the aesthetic rather than moralising.
De Profundis is also great but sometimes his desire to make every line an epigram becomes irritating, especially as it sometimes undermines the personal and confessional/didactic (y he so jesus tho?) feeling of the piece.
>>
>>8289261
that was just a bromance, nothing gay about that
>>
Confessions of a Mask
>>
...mishima?
>>
A lot of mishma and naked lunch, while (mostly) not explicitly "gay literature", captures the undercurrents of gay life better than anything; the sense of exclusion from the dominant culture, the hedonism and fear that goes along with it, the fracturing of self resulting from being a minority and the self-destructiveness that go along with it, the tentative affirmation you get when you embrace all the above as part of your identity.

Most explicitly "gay" literature is written by incompetents who fetish their sexual identity as tho it seperated themselves from the broader human experience (instead of just being an offshoot of it) and/or by millennial puss is obsessed with disney-esque salvation narratives where your troubles and hardships eventually turn out okay because you learned to just b urself.
