No, please do not read this book.

Yes, is perfect. Do it.

Expect to be wowed by his understanding of tech and the modern era
It's a pretty good book, just a little bit worse than Vineland

Was my first Pynchon. Not as good as Gravity's Rainbow or even Inherent vice, I thought it was far better than The Crying of Lot 49. Take from that whatever you wish.
>>
Very fun read I thought. Also my first and only Pynchon novel I've read.

It's fun but don't expect to be blown away by it.

This
also it seems to me that those of his books that follow a single character are in a distinctly lower category than the others. It's still Papa Pynch narrating but there's something missing. Scope? But Inherent vice isn't so bad without aiming too wide, forms a sort of bridge. Maybe it's female main characters, then, that we find uncool or something

his worst book desu

Pynchons my fav writer for sure because my fav thing in books is goofs, gags, jokes and rambunctious behavior, and his books are full to the brim of it. Every novel is like one of those novelty snake cans, you open the book & POP you get a face fulla snakes and you fall back cackling. The mad mind, the crack genius, to do it! and then you think hmmm whats he gonna do next, this trickster, and you pick the book back up and BZZZZZZZZZZ you get a shock and Hahahahahah you've been pranked again by the old pynchmeister, that card. "Did that Pynch?" he says, laughing yukyukyukyuk. Watch him as he shoves a pair of plastic buck teeth right up into his mouth and displays em for you- left, right, center- "you like dese? Do i look handsome???" Pulls out a mirror. "Ah!" Hand to naughty mouth. And you're on your ass again laughing as he snaps his suspenders, exits stage right, and appears again hauling a huge golden gong.

Epic.

OP I actually enjoyed that book from beginning to end, it was very eloquently written and it elucidated a lot of the 21st century's Internet zeitgeist.

It was pretty light reading, compared to other books, but that doesn't take away it's genius.
