>love writing as a kid
>teachers wrote on reports that I was gifted
>write bits and pieces all through high school, poems mainly
>our high school exam is high-pressure rote learning, the English course killed any love I had for writing
>unsuccessfully tried to break my writers block in college
>Now 25, feel like I can write again
Any advice for me, /lit/? My style is probably underdeveloped or non-existent at this point. I feel like I'm starting late, what should I do to get myself up to speed?
I know Beckett started his main works quite late, but he's not exactly a typical example.
Thoughts?

For every page you write, read 50.
For every page you write, read 10.000

Biggest thing I'd say is to just start something. 25 is still incredibly young with plenty of time to improve, but you would really benefit starting now. I had a similar experience with academia myself and it took almost five years before I was able to enjoy it again.
But start slow. Your "muscle" would be akin to atrophy at this point, so don't set the bar so high that you'll be upset about not doing enough. Daily consistent steps, even if 10 words a day, will do more for you than giant leaps with giant breaks in between. Hope that helps, and remember you're never truly dine writing until you're dead.

The only thing anyone can really say is do it and keep reading as you're doing it.
