Because it was for ten year olds. Stop making this thread.

Victorian nostalgia themed fantasy that allowed children to easily imagine themselves stepping into the world. The books really arent terrible as far as childrens books go and theres nothing wrong with having fond memories of them. The Young Adult defebse force assholes claiming its equivelant to high literature are cancer tho.

Easy story that came at the right, allowed people to growth up with it and as time passed, tackled deeper and darker subjects. Also likable characters, and did not focus exclusively on a love story, but rather how to endure and overcome the hardships of our life.

There's a lot of people in the world with a lot of different levels of experience and insight. For instance, it makes even less sense that somebody has so little to do with their time that they make a harry potter thread every day. But hey, there's an asshole like that too. Just like there's enough assholes to give anything and anyone a fanbase.

There are many reasons for Harry Potter's success.

Harry is a proxy. He really doesn't say much. The reader lives through Harry. This is a great way to make people feel like they are a part of the story and it is widely used in popular media.

The setting is congruent with a large audience. Think, how many people are growing up and going to school? Rowling replicates many of the common experiences of the average school kid in he work.

The story is fantasy. Although one of the selling points is congruency, Rowling liberated her work from boredom by adding the fantasy. Fantasy is obviously a seller. Just look at how many different fantasy series, genres, and niches there are. Rowling appeals to readers by elaborating on the most used fantasy cliche: magic and wizards.
