nick land isn't an autist, according to an ex-student (http://divus.cc/london/en/article/nick-land-ein-experiment-im-inhumanismus) he was:
"thoroughly polite and amiable and, above all, willing to engage in earnest conversation with anyone" and "he preferred to spend his time in the bar with undergraduates, always buying the drinks, smoking continually, and conversing animatedly (and where possible, vehemently) about any topic whatsoever." :)

Sheldon Cooper is not a philosopher

can you name any actually autistic philosophers? because personally i would think that autistic people are more suited for maths and science. i guess that means though that there'd be a lot in analytic philosophy.

Adam Smith.

>Smith was described by several of his contemporaries and biographers as comically absent-minded, with peculiar habits of speech and gait, and a smile of "inexpressible benignity".[53] He was known to talk to himself,[47] a habit that began during his childhood when he would smile in rapt conversation with invisible companions.[54] He also had occasional spells of imaginary illness,[47] and he is reported to have had books and papers placed in tall stacks in his study.[54] According to one story, Smith took Charles Townshend on a tour of a tanning factory, and while discussing free trade, Smith walked into a huge tanning pit from which he needed help to escape.[55] He is also said to have put bread and butter into a teapot, drunk the concoction, and declared it to be the worst cup of tea he ever had. According to another account, Smith distractedly went out walking in his nightgown and ended up 15 miles (24 km) outside of town, before nearby church bells brought him back to reality.

Autism, by definition, describes people who are bad at communicating. That's the whole bag and most of what's in it, so it's not exactly a predisposition.

That being said, the definition has been watered down pretty drastically. There are plenty of well-known philosophers who could probably be placed on the spectrum.

Ultimately, the real answer is - it doesn't fucking matter. The value is in what they say and how well it reaches you, not in who or what they are.

Nick Land is actually interesting to me even though I find the Dark Enlightenment pretty abhorrent. Can anyone sum him up for me? I'm too lazy sorry

Do socialists make better pianists?

I honestly think it's pretty hard for someone whose condition makes it hard for him to be mindful of others to thrive in a field that's deeply interpersonal. My favorite philosophers tend to be ones who have an acute sense of others and humanity in general, so autists are pretty much disqualified.

Autists stack blocks better.
