Submissions thread.

Where have you submitted?

Anything accepted?

Anything rejected?

How did your rejection letters go? Any personal ones and not form rejections?
>>
Some retarded local shit rag called Perversion Magazine. 3 months later, no response, and it's a no pay market.

Form letter rejection from Clarkesworld.

Awaiting a response from Phobos.

On the final edit of a short story, horror story, that I worked on in a workshop, will try to find a place to submit that next.

This quote is shit.

Tell that to Faulkner

Rejected from everywhere (20 agents and several publications, though obviously I wasn't sending the agents the same thing as the pubs) expect for some lameass places online that published some of my stuff.
>>
>>8085270
Yeah. It's like even an actual written response and not a form letter would be a small victory.
>>
what do I write and who do I send it to if I want to make money with words
>>
>>8085292
Porn and self-publish it. I'm not even kidding. Look at the bestsellers on Amazon's kindle short reads.
>>
>>8085300
damn, I figured as much. as least it's easy, although tedious. any idea how much money is up for grabs in the smut market, or is it a kind of blind luck deal?

I don't see how people do it.

I'd rather average minimum wage writing what I want, then make 60k a year as one of those amazon 20 books a year smut dudes.

I mean, there are jobs out there that pay this and more, not sure why someone would want to devote their time to it.

And it's not like they are following their passion and doing it, it's just a way to make a dollar, successful smut amazon dudes doing amas always talk about the money to be made in it, and the majority of questions are how much money can I make doing it.
>>
>>8085335
they do it for the money, you fuck shit dumdum. paying bills takes priority over horseshit like artistic integrity or whatever part of yourself you're hoping to preserve by not writing about dicks in cunts
>>
>>8085367
Did you not read? The top guys in that smut are averaging around 50k a year. The TOP guys. Why wouldn't you just manage a McDonalds or something, make the same money, and not be a joke?
>>
>>8085380
>make 50k doing something I can do essentially right now
>make 50k doing something that takes a substantial amount of time

why go to college when you can just start a hedge fund hahaha

>why go to college when you can just start a hedge fund hahaha

why start a hedge fund when you can just win the lottery hahaha
>>
>>8086389
Ok, well, I'm glad you are daydreaming about how to write amazon porn. Good luck with that.

Anyone else actually submitting anything?
>>
>>8085270
How long does it take to get rejected by an agent? I've got some storis that have been in the void forever and have given up hope to even receive a rejection letter
>>
>>8085380
That's really good considering how little effort is put into those books. They're like 20 pages tops and the hardest thing about making them is probably getting the cover just right. Even assuming middling authors of that sort of smut are only making about 10-20k a year, it's practically free money (assuming you don't pay too much for a cover and/or ads) so it's definitely worth it as an income supplement even if you do have a real job.
>>
>>8086772
It really depends on the agent. Some magazines take fucking forever too. Most rejected me within 2-4 weeks. A couple took over a month. At least 3 just never replied for months on end (over half a year now I think) so those were de-facto rejections.

Traditional publishing's a bitch if you don't have some serious nepotistic connections.
>>
>>8086841
Did you ever consider the self publishing route?
>>
>>8087091
Yes, but that went nowhere as expected, even if I'm a really minor meme here now.
