Authors who don't get to the point in a straightforward way or use metaphors are a waste of time.

i think if you are an author and your work is misinterpreted then you have failed as a writer, even if your work goes on to be very influential.
both are important. Its not like readers will ever completely grasp original author intent so they might as well have good personal ones
