What's some good/readable fiction about ninjas/assassins/thieves? I say readable

I would say One Thousand and One Nights but unless you know Arabic and can read the original text you'd be

He's lying about 1001 nights. Burton translation will do so much more for you than the Arabic recension, and you probably want the Kolkata recension if you want more material.
