I'm looking into reading The Brothers Karamazov by Dostoevsky, but i'm not sure which translation to pick. A lot of people seem to recommend the P&V translation but some prefer the Mcduff version.
Can you help me out /lit/?
Also Russian literature general.

Just read the P&V, don't listen to the /lit/ memes it's a solid effort
I doubt anyone here has read both translations and the Russian version so they can have a valid opinion.

But I hear that it's often times translated too literally (if that makes any sense) and that makes reading the p&v version much less enjoyable.
McDuff is a very smooth and well-crafted translation. Go for that one. I've read both P&V and McDuff and preferred the latter.
how about Oliver Ready for Crime and PUnishment?

thank you, think I'll just go for mcduff then.

Ready is the best for C&P.
In general, avoid P&V at all cost.
