I put on a 90s rock playlist, to capture the mood of the time when he was writing it. Sometimes I pause reading and lean back in my chair and close my eyes and think, "Dave might've heard this song on the radio as he was driving home from an AA meeting with the outline of the Clipperton saga in his head." And a beatific smile will spread across my face.
