Boris Vian - L'écume des jours
...I hate this book by the way.
I just read Rohmer's screenplays

I recommend Francois(e?) Sagan, you can get her first two novels 'Bonjour Tristesse' and 'A Certain Smile' in the same edition. Godard called 'A Bout De Souffle' (sp?) a 'sequel' to Preminger's Bonjour Tristesse adaptation

Bonjour Tristesse is a good one. OP you might like Les Petits Chevaux de Tarquinia by Marguerite Duras as well, or her more famous but not at all 'warm' L'Amant.

w2c an english translation? my french is shaky
Und im Leben geht’s oft her wie in einem Film von Rohmer
Und um das alles zu begreifen
Wird man was man furchtbar hasst
Nämlich Cineast
Zum Kenner dieser fürchterlichen Streifen
rohmer has a very specific feel that no other french new wave directors share
bump for interest

Bait? New wave cinema is the most overbearing of all

Houellebecq is your man if you want to see the outcome of this new wave artistic movement. Especially les particules élémentaires which irked all the bobos in the US.

criterion boxset of the five moral tales comes with his original short story treatments for each film -- might be able to get it out of a library or something
