Because you have no friends.
I picked up this book some 5 years ago and it's the only book I have ever put down and never finished. I liked the WW1 parts a bit.

Reading Céline at 10? That's ambitious.
That's a terrible cover.
Is it a really dark book?

Funniest parts? I laughed any time the old lady whoseson and daughter-in-law were trying to kill heropened her mouth.
i wonder how they translated it in english
in french it's a bit hard to read so i started it but stopped after 100 pages. Still I intend to finish it it was really special

Céline's prose is pure poetry really. Not too sure how one can translate it at all. Unique style.

3/5.
Brilliant at timesthat part with the man who gave up his life for that girl was heartbreakingas was the botched murder attempts. It felt protracted at other times, needlessly descriptive of events and too long for the message it was trying to convey.
Thats just me
