usually criticisms are sufficiently vague that they're able to be accepted (e.g. stranger 1)

but stranger 2 is just bafflingly misguided

"I still get nightmares."

God dammit I'm reading this book now and I'm really enjoying The Navidson Report but every fucking time Truant starts writing it's so unbearably try-hard and edgy that I wan't to skip it but I can't bring myself to skip part of the narrative. I don't want to hear about his fucking wacky paranoia anymore

>Sing in me, Muse, and through me tell the story
of that man skilled in all ways of contending,
the wanderer, harried for years on end,
after he plundered the stronghold
on the proud height of Troy.
Worst opening line to any literary canon ever. Dropped the entirety of western literature then and there.

In all seriousness, anon, I understand that I introductions and further reading are all valuable resources, and it is imperative to direct all resources at your goal, but I think of this as chewing your own food vs having it chewed for you. I mean, who do you think will remember the taste more?

I know I have no reference for how you personally made that connection, and I acknowledge that it is better to make it anyway you can than not making it at all, but do you have to be such a dick up there on that huge cock pedestal?

There's something terribly sad and banal about that.

>This is a story about a little girl and a game that she didn't want to play.

Beginning of a horror story I'm working on. Ligotti-esque mood piece. Trying to convey the emotional experience of a nightmare.
>>
>Muse, tell me about the time Achilles got really mad
>>
>>7888446
A good part of this text is entirely made up.

Andra moi ennepe, mousa, polutropon hos mala polla / plagchthè, epei troiès hieron ptoliethron eperse.

Ennepe moi, mousa = Tell me, Muse,
Andra polutropon = the many-rused man
hos plagchthè mala polla = who wandered very much
epei eperse = after throwing down
ptoliethron hieron troiès = the holy city of Troy.

For some reason, the author considered "stronghold" a valid translation of πτολίεθρον, which is a lengthened form of πτόλις, doric for πόλις, city.

I don't know where he got the "proud height of Troy".
>>
>>7885828
It's in response to the first line in Hamlet.
Kinda bland if you don't notice it at first though, desu.

Also there are heads (yorick) and bodies (many) in Hamlet.
