I am almost through reading the first Mistborn trilogy, and while the story is pretty captivating is it supposed to be young adult? Does brandon sanderson pander to absolute retards? I cant go through a page without him explaining for the thousandth time, what something does or why a person does that.
Is there any good fantasy at all?

Brandon Sanderson is puerile garbage. Try one of these instead:
Fritz Leiber - "The Swords of Lankhmar"
Roger Zelazny - "Nine Princes in Amber"
John Crowley - "Little, Big"
Gene Wolfe - "Book of the New Sun"
Tim Powers - "The Anubis Gates"
Jack Vance - "Lyonesse"
Robert Holdstock - "Mythago Wood"
Guy Gavriel Kay - "Tigana"
Michael Swanswick - "The Iron Dragon's Daughter"

He writes for children and low-IQ adults.
Sanderson is nowhere near as bad as you people are saying but he does heavily pander towards people that need constant reminders. If you're looking for faster stories I can't imagine you going wrong with the entirety of the Amber Chronicles like >>7883020 suggested.

Anything that gets people reading, amirite?
