What does /lit/ think of this book?
I thought it was alright.
Bought it today for three dollars so nothing.

Read it in high school freshman year, read it four times since then. Great book.
Great prose, great themes, great characters, even a great plot.

His prose was shit, actually. He was no Thackeray.
He made up for it in sheer storytelling prowess, though.

Well, I like his prose, at least. Always feels comfy.
I agree that Thackeray's is nice, but Vanity Fair is one of the few books I've given up on. Easily the most depressing novel I've read, or at least started to read.
