I picked up Ecstasy by Irvine Welsh in a shop due to him writing Trainspotting.
The back of the book was just quotes, I'd no clue what it was about so I just tossed it back on the shelf.
>review quote is from the author themselves
>no gold medallion on the cover
fucking DROPPED
>every""man's"" library

I hate stuff like this. Obviously reviews and quotes and "From the critically acclaimed bestseller...!", etc. is important for marketing purposes. But once the book is purchased it all because useless and just makes the book ugly. Ideally there would be some way to remove it all once you take it home. I wouldn't even want a blurb if I had the choice.

Is Tom Clancy worth reading? Like does he have 'that one' book that's actually really good? If you had to recommend one Tom Clancy novel what would it be? I used to read Dean Koontz when I was younger and after the 3rd novel it was just the same thing over and over again.

Never mind, after some research I'll pick up Clear and Present Danger.

Did you look at the inside of the jacket?
Sometimes they put it inside the jacket if it's a hardcover
There used to be a few books that I'd have to check the copyright page for the summary of the work way back in the day, but I haven't seen one of those in about ten years
