Shawshank Redemption, The Shining, Fight Club
No Country For Old Men
Stranger is pretty good.
American Psycho, the only movie better than its book counter-part.

This. Movies and flicks are shit, but kino and kinography are, especially the opening scene from L'Ascension du Chevalier Noir (1932)
>>7871278
kinography are masterworks of art*
The Shining

I actually thought that adaptation of Anna Karenina was pretty great. I think people trashed it because it wasn't just a straight forward adaptation of the story, but I think Wright's choices made perfect sense.
Satantango desu
Mr.Hand
This version was based as fuck and if you think otherwise you're opinion is no longer welcome on /lit/.

>And Kiera did a good job of making Anna into a giant cunt.
>Which she was.
Couldn't agree more. I hate when she's made to sound sympathetic. To me she just comes across as selfish and childish. She got horny and fucked up her life.
I thought Domhnall Gleeson as Levin was great.

Planet of the Apes, believe it or not. That book was horrible.
Whispering Pages is an excellent adaptation of C&P
The 2005 Master & Margarita Mini-show is probably also among the greatest adaptations out there
Sokurov's Faust is also worthwhile
Hard to be a God (A. German)
Stalker 1979
Finally, pic related

I'm literally in love with Keira so I may be biased, but I too thought this was a well done adaptation, however it seems to be more catered towards those who have read the book.
+ even having read the book, the film struggles to maintain the visual creativity it shows in the first 15-20 minutes. Everything from the beginning to Vronsky and Anna's first dance is 11/10.

I do think it starts off stronger than it finishes, however, that horse race scene is fucking 11/10.

Haven't watched the movie yet but she's nothing like what I imagined, which annoys me. Might change my mind, though.
>>7872091
If you haven't watched it, how do you know she's not like you imagined? Or are you just talking about physical appearance?
>>7871209
I always imagined anna to be a bit thicker, even muscular, but still slender.

The Martian was a much better movie than it was a book (although the movie isn't great).
The Wizard Of Oz was a better movie than a book.
The Little Prince...? Some parts of both the book and movie were both good and bad.
