What I said when I said "don't do it" wasn't so much apparent in the words but as when if I said it louder than that other woman when she skirted the intersection crosswalk around us and that car that was about to hit you but you jumped out of the way and into a snow drift. "Don't do it" was meant not to stop you from crossing the street, which you would do even if oncoming traffic came at you and across the intersection to our side of the street. Rather, I meant to catch your attention in between cars so that you would stop on the dotted line and not collide with that biking asshole with a death wish as he weaved in between cars. Little did you know under that snowdrift lay an unclaimed pane of glass someone left on the street in the hopes someone else would pick it up and take it home to be a makeshift shitty coffee table or maybe the garbageman would take away for them so that their problem could go away. You broke into it head first and froze there, frozen going forward until the spring thawed you out of the cops decided to pick you up and get you out of the street, which ever came first. Meanwhile, I stayed on the other side of the street, watching you brave the traffic that would not put up with bravery, waiting for the white man to permit me to cross the street and cradle your torso while the juices in your head froze into but not out of shapes like the tips of leaves after an ice storm. My day was rough, thanks, but I'll manage. Friends are a dime a dozen here.

"That's unusual" was what I had thought at the moment. I just took the picture to laugh at it, maybe share it on the facebook group. It was funny at the time. But when I got home, not so much. Actually, it made me think again, as I watched it on my phone. It looked sadder than in real life. I think. Maybe I just didn't noticed when I took it.
