Geoffrey Chaucer, The Canterbury Tales – choose your own edition (as long as it’s in Middle English) Some suggestions: Penguin (ed. Mann), Riverside (ed. Benson), Broadview (eds. Boenig and Taylor)
Which of these is the best edition and why?
Riverside. Has all the Tales, and all his other works. Good supplementary additions.

Seconded. You can find cheap used editions in Amazon. It doesnt matter if it's the old one from the 80s, as long as it's the third edition it should be fine.
Why the fuck would you read the Middle English
Because I'm taking "The Invention of English" and its the required text for the class.
