My 5 yr old has a pretty gud vocabulary, I think, and those redwall books were too advanced for him. If she's into fantastical stuff Lloyd Alexander and Diana Wynne Jones were 2 of my childhood favorites that held up over time. Those classics look awsome, tho, I'll have to check those out.

I believe it, Alice is just plain weird in a way I cant picture children enjoying. Are those illustrated classics basically graphic novels or is it more like a picture every other page or so? That White Fang looks a lot like my copy, tho I guess every copy ever has a wolf on the front.
