american faggotry. in Europe we call Lutherans and Calvinists Protestants, other 'Churches' are more like cults, not better than Scientologists or Jehowah's Witnesses.

mfw I'm not religious at all
>>
>>7806168
Don't Lutherans in Europe have gay marriage now, for the most part?

When I wrote Europe, I should've write Hungary, I see other parts of Europe regarding religion in a historical view, don't know about current affairs.

Gay marriage is not a thing in Hungary though. I support legal gay marriage, but I'd be disappointed if churches would allow religious gay marriages.

The Church of Denmark and the Church of Sweden certainly have it.

I don't know. There are so many denominations to choose from. Presbyterianism?
>>
>>7806173
Some do, they are not very unified and their theology is much more fluid than Catholic or Orthodox.

There was this fad where all new protestant churches were"non denominational" , now all of the not-catholic not-Jew not-Baptist churches just call themselves "Christian" just like how scientology is Christian and
> Catholicism totally isn't Christian guys

I tire of the lies of protestants and their identity crisis

Mormonism and Seventh-Day Adventism aren't Protestant. Many wouldn't even consider them Christian, not least because of the additional books they elevate as normative for faith and life and for what they add to/take away from the essence of Christian faith.
>>
>>7807696
All Protestants say works are unnecessary for salvation, so they all take away significantly from the essence of the Christian faith. I don't see why Seventh Day Adventists are less Christian that Baptists.

Im not well read, but read Paradise Lost at the start of this year. I know nothing about christianity other than what they teach you in school, and I loved it.

They believe Jesus is the Christ and are not Catholic, it's that the Protestant definition of Christian?

Gospel of John and Imitation of Christ are my go to's.

What's necessary for salvation is 100% taken care of by God (i.e., Jesus' perfect, once-and-for-all sacrifice along with faith worked by the Holy Spirit). Good works are important, and in fact an inevitable byproduct of genuine faith, but to say that they're necessary for salvation is what (Protestants say) takes away from the saving work of God. There is actually significant agreement on this between Protestants (Lutherans anyway) and Catholics, as the Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Justification attests.
As for Seventh-Day Adventists, one issue held by some is a certain legalism that shows up in their theology in various ways and is seen by some as denigrating in a way the work of Christ.

>>7808303
Not that anon, but Mormonism adds a lot to commonly accepted Christian teaching to the extent that Christians generally don't recognize the Mormon faith as Christian anymore.
>>
>>7808280
lol this meme. A christian is someone who accepts Jesus Christ as their savior. So protestant, no, but christian, yes.

I just read this. I didn't expect much, being a Jew and all, but I had a copy laying around. It was beautifully written and very moving. I wish I could read it in the original Greek.
