Not really. They are just bold posturing in short and often thin narratives with great titles. But they are still entertaining , like reading a creative writing student's work.

The more great literature I read the harder it is to go back and seek out lesser quality work. If I have difficulty working my way through a book the more memorable it becomes, even if I hated it, hate is still passion.

Atwood currently. Oryx and Crake is dece and a pretty easy read.
Science fiction. Interesting ideas and fun cultural differences- basically braincandy. Currently reading good old Asimov and Alfred Bester.
I just study vocab words.

oh and macedoine and mesalliance. The last 2 are of french origin I believe.
