Very.

I think it must be really sad to think you know what the hallmark of humanity is and not have any serious interest or capability in it. Pop science depresses me more than it triggers me.

Also,
>Metaphysics and theology and science

But what if the theology answer was switched for science?

Hahaha, dude, science is amazing! Have you heard of this guy, Nikolai Tesla, or as we rationalists like to call him, "God"? Probably not, but he was amazingly smart, like a genius, and invented time machines and world-destroying lasers. Let's review his Wikipedia article together.

I don't understand how is it possible to be mad at science.

Do you also get mad at the fact that 2+2=4 because it denies subjective interpretations of the ego or some other philosophical bullshit?

Help me understand. How can you be mad at reality? Mad at facts? It makes no fucking sense.

Now if what you're really mad at was fedoras with no actual scientific background, that would be one thing.

It doesn't trigger me because "scientism" has become very prevalent, espiecially in le STEM work environments I work in, but not only. Philosophy is like being in a dark room and wondering if there is such a thing as a cat.
Metaphysics is like being in a dark room and wondering if there is such a thing as a dark room.
Theology is like being in a dark room and discussing the nature of cat.
Science is like being in a dark room and playing with stuff you find on the floor.
>>
>>7794903
It's so wrong that it isn't even in the 'triggering' category. It's like if someone said "the sky is green" - you can't get mad about it because it's so self-evidently absurd.

Even the smuggest philosophy-hating scientists would find the OP pic dumb because it seems to fundamentally miss what the scientific method is. If it was switched to something like 'Science is like being in a dark room and looking for a black cat on a systematic grid-by-grid basis' then it would move to triggering territory because it would at least have some semblance of understanding.

It is annoying how people take it as THE TRUTH NO ALTERNATIVES LOL.

Science is just as faith based as any other belief system.

It is all based on the belief that everything is out there and that what we observe is real.

We can't escape our minds to see what it is really like without the processing done by the mind.

We can never know and because of that being a Christian and taking everything in the Bible literally is just as sensible as believing what science tells us is correct.

"I LOVE SCIENCE"

What they love is scientia: knowledge. More often than not they love beautiful ideas, philosophy, religion, and the sublimity of nature. They take delight in satisfying their curiosity.

Science has become hijacked by positivists and STEM, it has come to mean a ruthless empiricism based on "le ebidence" and the so called "scientific method". Knowledge to these people is restricted to the NATURAL and takes no account for an understanding of the supernatural.

It annoys you because you do not wish to live in a soulless, atheistic world. The soul of an artist aspires to that beyond the natural world, to religion, and great artists are monks that worship their art. You do not want to live in a world without art, and a world without religion is a world without art, since they spring from the same source within us.

"da stiegen die menschen ans licht" is the artists' struggle

My issue with this sort of person is that they worship "laws" that are approximations of approximations of educated guesses from incomplete data whose phenomena differ from when they are and are not observed.

Oh, and they tend to be soulless and insufferable

Pretty sure no one here is "mad at science" at least, I hope, it's just pretty retarded that some people (especially millennials) think that philosophy and religion are bullshit and never contributed anything to humanity, only destroyed "reasoning" (a.k.a. they're lefties).

Also, this thread belongs on /his/ MODS

Philosophy will always be ahead of science.

It is pretty ironic how these scientists will talk about religious people and how they don't like the truth and are afraid of it, while they themselves just brush off philosophy.

"Ha, philosophy is just a bunch of old guys talking about thoughts and shit. I don't need to consider their thoughts. Everything is real, just watch me stub my toe, r-right?"

The word 'fucking' is used for emphasis. If you read it like someone speaking you read it all as a monotone list until he gets to science, where the emphasis is on "fucking flashlight."

But you can hardly call Gradgrind a pseudo right? If I remember correctly he still held true to ideals in both science and philosophy.

not that guy, but why do you think that? he was basically describing foundational mathematics - which is pretty often considered a "proper" science, and one populated by people who I doubt you could call "absolutely retarded". The problem people have with science isn't due to being mad at facts, but rather being mad at people who think the study of facts and reality belongs exclusively to the realm of empirical study - which they do not.

Science doesn't tell you what's correct, IT SHOWS YOU WHAT'S CORRECT. Religion tells you what's correct and says "we'll show you what is correct once you die".
