Keep meaning to read Svevo. One of Joyce's inspirations for Leopold Bloom.
And Joyce admired Svevo's novel Senility.
But I haven't read him, so that's all I know about him

Italian here. I can't stand him. Zeno and Senility are about inepts who faff about for hundreds of pages being a waste of humanity.
>that cover
I like the idea but jesus.
Not as good as calvino

huh. someone else who used faffs about. if i had noticed i would have used something else.

Are you a girl?
enjoyed it a lot. can see why joyce admired it. it didn't really do anything for me until about halfway through after which it got progressively funnier/more enjoyable
the narrative/prose devices used might seem a bit trite now though.

Isn't that a little self loathing for an Italian?
>>7780847
Calvino is trash.

It's a book for fags, which makes the cover very appropriate

that's harsh. he's a fine author, and a very enjoyable read by anyone who appreciates literature and fiction.
I'm reading it at the moment. I'm at the part when Zeno isgoing to condesa his love to Ada but Guido starts playing the violin. It's a good novel, but not a great one. Weaver's translation is good. There are some parts that are brilliant, for example when he is talking about the dates of his promises. Also his relation with his father is rather poignant. Very Freudian book.

it gets better senpai. the non-chronological narration means you get more layers added as the book goes on. the book starts fine but not great but it definitely gets better as it goes on imo.
