Brief Interviews with Hideous Men is a great way to get into DFW, it's got a lot of his best pieces

I'm thinking of buying The Divine Comedy and was wondering if it is *necessary* I read some of the older epics (Iliad, Odyssey, Aeneid) if I want any chance of fully understanding it. I know Virgil plays a part in the story which is why I'm asking.

I will read those older classics at some point but right now I'm more interested in Dante.

you should aim to read all of them at some point though, they're just so influential. and not that long.

IJ is really easy anon. Its just dense and complicated at times. But its really easy in terms of comprehension 90% of the time

I just finished the 5 page footnote about one of the ETA students plagiarizing a journal about kids jumping in front of trains and how it relates to the wheel chair assassins. Holy shit was it dense, but I absolutely loved it. So many shifts in perspective and stories being told simultaneously.

Why is it that the Kindle can't handle heavy PDFs?

I tried to read the New Oxford Annotated Bible, but my Paperwhite just freezed and I had to restart it. The file is 46 MB, more or less, and even if I compress it it only goes to 42 MB.
