It's a really cool book
Really enjoyed it. The narrator switches were both interesting and effective storytelling tools. It also had a lot of nuanced symbolism and interplay between the characters.
I liked it, more than gatsby actually. it's not as flawless but IMO it's more honest
the true patrician choice for fitzgerald fans. plebs will choose great gatsby. posers will choose this side of paradise. idiots will choose the other book, but this truly showed what fitzgerald could have been. shame it too though is still incredibly flawed.
Too tender for me, eventually I like to swallow.

Fitz's heaviest, most powerful work. The last page is fucking heart wrenching and will secure his stature as one of the greatest American writers in history.
Its been years since I read it, but if I had to pick a flaw, it's the one I end up mentioning every time I talk about the novels of Fitzgerald: it chooses sentimentality over comedy, or genuity of any kind.

/lit/ just hates Gatsby because it's popular and accessible.
i've only started it once and put it down after a bit, i intend to pick it up again though since my dad loves fitzgerald i'm interested to see what he likes about it.
i also love this cover
