I didn't love the book I read. The rape scenes seemed horribly cut and pasted, like here's Rape Scene 1 and here is Rape Scene 2. I think people find it super gritstorical or something but it just seemed hugely intentional.

I only read the first 200 pages or so of Pillars of the Earth.
It was entertaining if not somewhat interesting, I can see why people like the book.

Would probably attempt to read it again if I feel like reading some light genre-fiction to pass the time, but I don't feel like it now.
