She's moving far away with her abusive husband. I'm not sure anymore that the things that are actually supposed to happen in life really do happen, and that some things are fucked up and wrong and they are not supposed to be that way, regardless of any philosophy or belief. That there is actually *wrong* in this universe and that bad things aren't part of a rich tapestry of beauty that is leading towards harmony. But what the hell do I know. I just know that someone like her should not be living in the desert with someone like that. Boot stomping endlessly on the face, I guess.

It's too late for objective intervention. Every day I think about suicide and every day I laugh a little to myself at how inevitable it is that I will end my own life. I am so detached from life that I am beyond apathy at this point. Whether it started out as weakness or shyness or sensitivity it has now become a calm, impassionate desire to die prevented only by a lingering urge to respect my dull, animal will to persist.

I'm 19 years old.

I am handsome, smart, athletic and virile.

I have a novel that is in it's final editing stage, and a creative writing professor at my college has read the first draft and thinks it's saleable.

I have a girlfriend who is confident, articulate, playful and spontaneous.

I have a small group of interesting friends from different social and academic backgrounds, and I also have many other acquaintances who see me as a reliable source of humour and good company.

Both my parents are alive and in good health.

I have no regrets.

I have already experienced three existential crises, the latter of which was described as having the depth and profundity of a man twice my age.

I am a passionate lover, a sharp thinker, and a trader of witty repartee.

I am not self-pitying, meek or needlessly humble.

I will live a good life at your expense.

Indeed, however you must understand that Greg is already viewed as a disgusting weirdo, me blaming him will not decrease his social standing within the workplace any lower because it is already at rock bottom. By blaming him, I am reducing the suffering that I would take and making it so that only 1 person instead of 2 is viewed with disgust.

"I long to go through the crowded streets of your mighty London, to be in the midst of the whirl and rush of humanity, to share its life, its change, its death, and all that makes it what it is."

Beethoven is kind of a meme. Not to say he's bad or anything, he's just the entry-tier, go-to guy for people listening to classical music for the first time, and who now feel themselves to be very cultured and patrician. Kind of like how Alex in A Clockwork Orange loves the 9th. I think this is the idea she was trying to invoke. The guy who's new and doesn't really know anything, but doesn't let his ignorance get in the way of feeling superior to everyone, because he once listened to "Emperor" or "Eroica" on YouTube.

The funny thing is how much of Beethoven never gets mentioned. Everyone knows symphonies 5&9, but 6&8 are also great, and his string quartets and piano sonatas are fucking amazing. Check out sonata 23 if you're not familiar with it; it blew my socks off.

I feel plebby because I'm still working through all of Beethoven, but I find some solace in the fact that I'm going into him further than most people do.

I had a dream last night and it had a book in it

It was roughly the same format and size as Infinite Jest, but instead of clouds or a title the cover consisted of the exploding world trade center and Goku from Dragon Ball Z on the bottom right.
Sadly I don't remember what exactly it was about, but I do recall that it was mostly gibberish and garbage, but that I really enjoyed a romantic sub-plot and wished the author had followed up on that.
The dream was very long and weird and it went some places

Another time I had a dream where I was hugging a girl a lot and we were reading Shakespeare, waking up made me feel really bad.

I'm not sure what's wrong with what I said? I'm not criticising Beethoven, I'm just saying that he is "the guy" for people who are new to classical. Kind of like how someone new to literature would hold Shakespeare as "the guy" to appreciate if you want to appreciate literature. That's obviously not a reflection on either Shakespeare or Beethoven, nor on their authentic appreciators. It's a reflection on a particular type of person who wants to appear to be cultured and sophisticated, in spite of having relatively limited knowledge or experience. "Namedropping" those two works were just an attempt to emulate that person.

Also, aside from moving your eyes left to right and turning the pages, is there a distinctive process to reading that involves a strategic comparison between discourse and narrative? Is that how you come to understand a text as a socially situated construct?

Plenty, on the face of it, but I've been living below my means on a scholarship and have been putting most of it away in high-interest savings and gics. When it comes time to pay it back, there's a cap on how much is paid back from each year, so a bunch of it will be kept as a grant.
